fallie painted that owl when he was seven. the opposite of a dream catcher, it's hung over my bed since after the before times. since the last painting burned
the kindly ones
slips disced or a southern gothic childhood (with surp)
shave eye sharpies or today's bull sluice
pools and pits or quarries are queries
blue moons and bitten knots or watermelon summer
good omens on stormy days or i snuck into the second pool i tried for the rain or shine, ritual, first swim of the summer and i did it all for you
the sunflower seeds we spread for the birds are so eager to sprout they can't contain themselves

a top five snack for me. when the first few lidls opened in georgia they carried them, and then they stopped carrying them, and now herr’s doesn’t make them anymore.
a while after they had stopped being available in georgia, i was keeping company with this girl from philly. she worked in the medical examiners office up there when they moved the city morgue from the old place to a modern new building. she would fly down every couple of weeks and stay with me for four or five days. it was nice, like a vacation for both of us
i was meant to go up there sometime. she was going to take me to explore the old morgue. she still had a set of keys. we’d go to the mutter museum and the insectarium and what all, but she still had kids at home. it was complicated for me to stay there
we got to talking about herr’s one day. i think she was a little amused that i was familiar with a regional pennsylvania snack food brand, and a lot amused that i was passionate about my favorite flavor. before her next visit, she had a case of the snack size bags shipped down to me. so good
i never made it up there. i was still dealing with the before times, and that distance made it hard to maintain a connection, but i have good memories
thank you for your service herr’s deep dish pizza flavored cheese curls, i apologize if i took you for granted. you tasted like the crunchy, toasty, tomatoey cheese at the edge of a lasagna pan. you are missed
but sometimes, just sometimes, the map is the territory or mumblelard's hand revisited
a bowl full of fruit and a belly full of snakes or market day
the color of rage or a couple of months worth of dollar bucket punches
plato's sitton's cave or i want to be two turtles when i grow up
i didn't take any pictures at rage last night, but finn and fall and i drank good old fashioned polish potato vodka mixed with summer flavored detroit sugar pop. we talked about all kinds of nonsense including the elders, lucid and not, cousins, fallen and not fallen yet, we talked about crashed christmases, shibboleths and other perils in names, orphaned lizards, wayward turtles, and hungry frogs. it was a good night
manifestations of my familiar or the ceramic demon pig, made by the dead german man as a child, is damaged, but i don't have the right kind of glue. i thought i had enough foraged beads to make a witch's ladder, it takes about year, but i laid it out and at least one is still missing, they will have to stay in their old furikake jar a bit longer
first sunday cool spring big breakfast or yesterday's river
