Last week, the Artrepeneurs met up with Philadelphia Printworks co-founder Maryam Pugh to discuss social justice topics we found especially important. Afterwards, we were able to print and keep some shirts from their catalogue!

Student at VisionQuest, had a professional photographer came out to had photo-shoot with them using they backdrop, that they created for the four freedom. We also had a trip to the African-American Museum where we learned more about the African-American history.. #muralartseducation #VisionQuest
We had a visiting photographer come to our classroom at NET and took photos of the students in front of our freedom backdrop. The photographer was Dana Singer and she takes photos of working class communities from New Jersey. Students enjoyed looking at her work and had a lot to say about what kind of narratives they got from looking at her photos, and shared personal stories about their families as well!
Went on a field trip with our NET students to the Fabric Workshop and they got to screen print their own bandana. We also looked at the exhibition they have and did a little art project with sticky notes and displayed it in the gallery.
This week at Artrepeneurs, we hit the streets of Chinatown with guest photographer Bonnie Saporetti from the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center and learned all about executing beautiful compositions!

Students a VisionQuest had a Workshops with the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center and learned how to work with a professional camera. The students had a trip to the fabric workshop and museum. They learned how to Silk screen on bandannas and T-shirts. #VisionQuest #muralartseducation
This week at NET we started the class with screen printing the shirts we tie dyed 2 weeks ago. Then we started on the photo backgrounds for the 4 freedoms project. In the second class of the day, Rachel from Philly photo arts taught students on how to use a camera. We practiced taking photos outside, thanks to one of the staff for driving out to this parking garage for a great view of the city!
We took our students at NET on a trip to the zoo! We had a good time looking at all the animals and learned a lot. This was some people's first time to this zoo and it was a lot of fun to go as a class together!
Students at Southeast by Southeast visited Paradigm Galley to see the “Good Medicine” exhibition featuring work by artist Dennis McNett (Wolfbat) and Alex Yanes. Dennis was our visiting artist and designed the mural we painted in the Spring. We also stopped in Arch Enemy Arts and observed art exhibited by emerging and established artist. Once we returned back to the classroom we sketched our favorite artworks discovered on our trip.
This week visionQuest students created personalized letters to use on their own acronym using one of the four freedoms. The students also enjoy a trip to the zoo. #vision quest #muralarteducation
OBSERVATIONAL DRAWING / LETTERING
Students drew portraits of each other, Students then took the drawings of themselves and added nouns and adjectives describing themselves. Students looked at fonts and found fonts that matched the words. Our last lesson was o perspective and students were encouraged to utilize perspective in their lettering
