So for Christmas this year I got an old 35mm film camera that makes these funky looking 3D images. Naturally I took it out with me on New years Eve to my mate's house party, excited to document the carnage that was about to ensue. 2 rolls of film and and a nightful of golden photo opportunities later I was satisfied in the knowledge that I would have at least a few cool 3D pictures of my mates being mongos to post in the coming month or so - 2 weeks later and to my utter dismay both rolls of film came back blank. 2AA batteries (and some heartache) later, I've managed to come to terms with losing the stockpile of encriminating material - and after a long string of subsequent mishaps to add to the list of why this camera has been entirely unbenefitial to my sanity, I've finally seen the light at the end of the tunnel - albeit in the form of a wobbly @smonders Shout-out to evan from @stillsedinburgh for relieving me of the hardships of Jessop's automatic scanners. . . . . #35mm #quadrascopic #3D #nishikan8000 #meganisatoaster (at Bannermans Bar)

Just started animating my first short film and have decided to go for a hand drawn/ stop frame kind of style visually inspired by Don Hertzfeldt. Although i will be altering it from his work by using textures and colours as well as digital software. Heres a side by side comparison of a cloud that i hand drew and filled with a texture that i moved about a few times then looped, and a cloud that i drew once and made wiggle using a neat trick inside after effects. I think ill be using the bottom style for the assets in the animation as it will save me a bunch of time that will free me up to focus more on the animation of characters and backgrounds etc

Some colour variations of a Single cover i designed for my friend’s band Portalooth. All created in Photoshop, i went for an 80′s retro futurewave stylistic approach as that was the style of the target piece and i kept the cats from the original cause i thought they were cute. The laser beam eyes were inspired by a previous Portalooth cover for ‘Manly Rock Tears’. I followed a great tutorial by Rose from tutpad to achieve the retro title text effect, I had never used 3D in photoshop before and found it to be pretty time consuming but it became increasingly more intuitive towards the end. Retrospectively i feel the design was on brief but maybe a little bit over the top and i could have stylized it to fit the 80′s theme a bit better by creating some VHS distortion effects with the liquify tool. Unfortunately i dont live in a city with high rises so couldn’t go out and shoot a similar background to the target piece, need to get a subscription to a stock image service or something to get access to stuff that i cant capture myself.

My first Character design session using Illustrator.  I was inspired by adobe’s shape effect tutorial from their website (shown above with the lions). I used the zig zag, scribble, pucker & bloat, free form and roughen shape effects to add variation and style to my characters haircuts. I thought zig zag was the most punk rock so went for that in the end. I textured the final image in Photoshop using paper and concrete textures to add a more dirty organic feel, the shadows in the face and hair were painted in using my tablet.
