Obsessed with The Apothecary Diaries!! I binge watched season 1 in 2 days, and now I'm caught up with season 2. I was too impatient and just finished LN 4... ahhhhhh I have so many emotions. I guess I'll just be crying at the end of every season of this amazing series???

New favorite character is Lahan, he's such a cutie!! I need him shipped, where are the fics 😫 ao3 is looking pretty dry outside of JinMao fics

I haven't been able to stop thinking about this series, there are so many little details, the characters are so well done, the themes, etc! I watched and loved a lot of Cantonese dramas set in ancient China when I was growing up, and this scratched that itch really nicely.

I'll likely post more of my thoughts at some point

I started reading The Other World's Books Depend on the Bean Counter / Isekai no Sata wa Shachiku Shidai a few days ago. I'm so glad I have these few days off because I've lost so much sleep catching up to this series, I'm OBSESSED!!!! I caught up to the manga and now reading the novel vol 1. I usually am not a re-reader, and i normally don't read BL novels (i usually just stick to manga) but this series has me in an absolute choke hold. Super glad I picked up the novels too, reading them hits a little different and I really appreciate the extra details that I didn't catch in the manga.

My favorite thing about reading the novel on Kindle is seeing the popular highlights 🤭

I somehow started off 2023 reading puppyshipping fic, it's gotta be at least 15 years since I've last read one!! Now look at me, AO3 is down and I've reinstalled Tumblr to satiate my craving help what am I supposed to do on a Friday night?!?!?!

Also, when did the term violetshipping happen? I've never heard of Kaiba and Jounouchi referred to as violetshipping until recently!!

Violetshipping was a move away from Puppyshipping because 1) the dog get up didn't get a long life within the show and 2) it was considered demeaning. (This is the best as I remember.) Violet came from the fact that blue(-eyes white dragon) and red(-eyes black dragon) makes violet. People use them interchangeably, and some even use both. Puppy is still a very popular way to refer to the ship.

Thanks for the explanation!! This makes a lot of sense. It's interesting to see how the fandom's perception of the ship has evolved, I def didn't think too deeply about the dog thing when I was younger but now that I'm older I can see how that can be demeaning and not in a good way.

The more I think about it, the more I really like the term violetshipping. It feels like there's this nuance of Kaiba and Jounouchi coming together to be even better versions of themselves as a couple, like fusing 2 smaller monster cards into a stronger one.

While violetshipping feels really poetic, puppyshipping just has so much nostalgia for me, and I love puppies 😔 I'll probably be using both from now on.
