Susie is the Dragon, and this is why she's going to be the Spanner in the Works for the Prophecy. She was never originally supposed to be one of the three heroes (notice how the Girl in the Prophecy panel looks more like Noelle?), she was supposed to be one of the first antagonists the heroes defeated.

But she became friends with Kris instead, and replaced Noelle in the hero role. And she's the ONE party member who never just does what Kris tells her to. She actively chooses to follow Kris, and is still entirely capable of overriding Kris' (and our) decisions and choices to follow her own path.

We were told right in Chapter One that OUR choices don't matter. But Susie? HER choices matter.

Deltarune Chapter 5 spoilers:

This is one thing I've seen literally nobody talk about, and it could be very significant to the story.

If you give Tenna to Mettaton (the glamorous sounding ghost in this house) during chapter 4, then in chapter 5 Mettaton will be videotaping the festival through his window. After some hours pass while Kris, Susie, and Noelle are at the lake, Kris will rip their soul out, right outside the ghosts' house. It is not unreasonable to assume that Mettaton accidentally videotaped Kris in the act of taking their soul out.

If Mettaton did videotape this happening, and watched it, it could be very significant. For whatever reason, Kris seems to try and hide the soul from others, and has only ever taken their soul out in private when they'd be (mostly) sure no one would see them. At the start of Chapter 5 they even hid the soul under blankets and at the end of the chapter they (optionally) hid the soul in a balloon. I can't imagine that a human taking their soul out is a normal thing, Kris has a reason to hide this part of themselves, but we don't know the exact reason.

Where might this lead in future chapters? Well we can't know, but I'd like to throw out my personal worst/best case scenarios for the continuation of this plot thread. Worst case scenario: Mettaton knows too much and suffers the same fate as onion-san. I don't like this possibility but it could happen, I don't think Toby would do this because it would punish players for trying to do something nice (giving Tenna a new home). Best case scenario: Pink/MewMew/angry voice of the ghost house watched the videotape, and realize that Kris is possessed in someway, assuming you got the Shadow Crystal, Pink/MewMew would come to castle town the next day, and she might confront Kris about this, and try to help them in someway.

I really need to get this out of my system because it’s starting to driving me crazy.

The common consensus as of ch4 was that Berdly saw the world as his personal dating sim, with the girls and Kris as his potential love interests.

And this isn’t entirely wrong, as his brief appearance in ch5 aligns with the idea of a typical dating sim before Noelle and Susie set him straight on the fact they aren’t straight.

But what Berdly’s doing isn’t exactly your typical generic dating sim MC boy behavior… it’s something far more confusing.

To start with, here’s this line from ch4.

I don’t know how else to convey what I mean, so cue the Miles Edgeworth again.

If you still don’t get it… Berdly is the one asking for someone else to be his support.

So that’s not a pickup line.

That's a cry for help.

This would normally be just another instance of Berdly unintentionally describing someone else in a way that fits him far better (see also: “a poor girl with no one to show her exclusive tips and tricks”, “so tsundere and confusing”, “heart beeping for love”, etc.)

But wait, there’s more!

If you accept the festival invite and continue this over in ch5, Berdly sets up the event so that the lover that impresses him the most would be the date.

That… isn’t something a self insert protag does. That’s something the girl they are trying to woo does.

I don’t think Berdly realizes it yet, but the second his dating sim view of relationships gets reinforced, he starts placing himself in the position of the girl you are trying to date, not the MC.

You probably don’t notice it in the moment because you’re more likely to assume Berdly sees himself as the MC boy of the dating sim, considering it’s him plus the girls, and also Kris.

But by having him as the one you’re supposed to impress, he’s placed Kris, Noelle and Susie where the MC would be…

which is exactly what ends up happening within the Pink battle (with Ralsei there ofc)

…meaning Berdly is the Mew Mew in this situation.

And please note that not only does Berdly reference the Doki mechanic of the Pink battle, and being “a puppet monarchy who promotes the love of two girls”, but the Hatsune Miku vocals of the battle heavily allude to the weird route.

Oh, and the Switch trailer initially features Mew Mew frozen in an iceberg.

In conclusion, let me restate my point:

why does berdly have significant connections to the transfem anime catgirl shadow crystal secret boss.

I genuinely believe that if they had reunited for real in castle town at the beginning of ch 4 that Tenna would not let his ass leave, and we wouldn’t have the deal maker for the rest of the game lol

Due to recent events, (the interview, and more than one person drawing Tenna in a pet carrier) I have decided that Tenna absolutely panics, gets small and then hides when he needs maintenance done, so the mikes have to put him in a fucking pet carrier like he’s getting taken to the vet. Though that’s not too far off from the actual situation.

Plus some sketches of defernull tenna trying not to crash the fuck out. (May or may not have a little writing thing I’ll never finish to go with them uhhhh ripperoni in pepperoni)
