hello! do you happen to have any posts on disabled (including neurodivergent) queer historical figures?
Absolutely I do! I get this question every once in a while and I think every time I give a different list because I remember different people are disabled in different ways. There is such a wealth of queer disabled people in history, and I am so glad to share some of their stories:
Sophia Parnok
Frida Kahlo
Reinaldo Arenas
Annemarie Schwarzenbach
Alan Turing
Billy Tipton
Lesbia Harford
Lou Sullivan
Victoria Arellano
Vaslav Nijinsky
Happy International Day of People with a Disability!
Erin Kyan, our creator and wearer of many hats in Love and Luck is severely disabled and spends most of his time on bed rest. Much of the work on our show is done here: on his computer in his day bed. The writing, the editing, the organizing - it’s all done from there! (Often with feline support, as shown!)
Other members of our production team and cast are also disabled and/or neurodivergent. We are a testament to the artistic skill of disabled people. 💖
DISABILITY PRIDE MONTH
Currently, we have 7 canon disabled characters with a range of disabilities, voiced and written by disabled people! Yen (she/her) & Zenith (he/him): Autism Teddy (he/him): Deaf, Chronic Pain, Chronic Fatigue Angel (she/her): Blind Jolly (it/its): ADHD, Chronic Pain, CPTSD Iris (she/her): ADHD Moth (it/he): CPTSD, Anxiety
There is nothing unrealistic about having several disabled characters, no matter how visible their disabilities. Let them exist. Let them be friends. Let them be a part of other minority groups. Give them depth. CREATE MORE!

Happy Pride Month! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Remember to celebrate not only the resilience and beauty of the LGBTQ community, but also of its long history that connects us across centuries and cultures!

Happy Pride Month Everyone!💜
🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈
Let us remember and further showcase how LGBTQ+ individuals have always been a part of world history!
Btw, you don’t have to go to a big pride parade to celebrate pride.
Coming from someone who crashes out over being too hot and has a social battery of two hours on a good day, pride parades are as unattractive as a social event can be for me. And that says a lot.
Celebrating pride at home with a small group of friends or even just watching some gay movies alone in your room is equally as valid as going to every pride parade that has ever been held.
You’re not being a bad queer for not going to pride. You’re not a bad queer for being unable to celebrate pride.
Whether you are disabled or physically incapable of going to pride or you’re just like me and really hate heat and crowded places, celebrating pride is different for everyone and anyway you celebrate is valid.
Because it's Juuuuuuuuune! June June June!
Happy Pride!
Happy International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia! Remember that your sexuality is valid and is a wonderful part of you. This year’s theme is mental illness and well-being, so make sure to put your mental health first!
Hey fellow Pride Knights! Today is May 17th, which means it is International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia! A date which commemorates the day in 1990 when the World Health Organisation removed homosexuality as a mental illness.
The LGBTQ+ community has come a long way since then and today is a day to celebrate this. We still have a long road ahead of us but we will never stop fighting! We hope you all have an amazing day today!
Japanese actress and male impersonator, Kawaji Ryuko. Ryuko was the star of Shochiku Kagekidan Women's Theater (Shochiku Revue) in the 1940s and 50s
We move now from Germany to ancient China, to two of the most famous gay couples in Chinese history and the sources of some of the most reco
Two of the most famous gay couples in Chinese history are also the sources of some of the most recognizable queer symbols in China: the bitten peach and the torn sleeve. Stories that are partially legend, partially based in some reality, have expanded beyond what anyone could have imagined and shifted from a romanticized look at a homosexual romance to a term to be clung to as a historical hook from past to present; a reminder that there is a precedent for the kind of queer love that continues in contemporary China, despite attempts to stamp it out.

Most of us look forward to the month of April as spring returns with warm temperatures, blooming flowers, and many outdoor festivals. There are a lot of fun facts and celebrations in April– let’s start it off with a laugh!
Did you ever wonder how April Fool’s Day started? It is speculated that the custom of April Fools began in France during the 16th century, after the New year calendar was moved from April 1st to January 1st. Those who continued to celebrate the April new year were considered fools, and often the victims of practical jokes. Today we just like to have a little fun with our friends!
Many festivals occur in April. In Washington DC, there is the beautiful cherry blossom festival. New Orleans hosts its Jazz and Heritage Festival and Atlanta celebrates its annual Dogwood Festival. Here in St. Louis, thousands come out to participate in the annual Earth Day festival. Make sure you mark your calendars for the 27th or 28th.
April has two birth flowers. Both the daisy and the sweet pea are considered birth flowers for the month of April. The sweet pea signifies blissful pleasure, while daisies represent childhood innocence, loyalty, and purity.
The month celebrates the birth of Queen Elizabeth II, Leonardo da Vinci, William Shakespeare and Thomas Jefferson.
The first shots of the American Revolution started April 19, 1775. The Civil War, Spanish War and World War II all started in April.
On 15 April 1912 the Titanic, believed to be unsinkable, hit an iceberg and sank 2 hours and 40 minutes later. Unfortunately, there we too few lifeboats to save everyone and only about 700 of the 2,224 passengers were rescued.
“Houston, we’ve had a problem”! April 11, 1970 Apollo 13 launched from Cape Kennedy. Fifty-six hours later, she suffered a catastrophic explosion that crippled the ship. Fortunately, the astronauts were able to return home unharmed.
April celebrates Arab American heritage, child abuse prevention, and Autism Awareness. It is also Keep America Beautiful month, Jazz Appreciation Month and Poetry Writing Month.
Some “just for fun” April celebrations include: National Pillow Fight Day (6th), National Library Worker Day (9th), national siblings day (10th) and World Penguin Day (25th).
