Hey, look at that, I actually started and finished this set today! But yeah, this is another set where I don’t have an opinion on a bunch of these songs although some heavy hitters do show up. We’re so close to top 50 though, and I know I’ll have a lot more thoughts once I get to that point (plus, I think I was making my write-ups too long initially also).
Here’s 70 -61!
70. Congratulations – Post Malone ft. Quavo
I originally had this song much lower, but then I realized I wasn't really sure why I had it so low. Post Malone is kind of obnoxious here, yes, but at least he's showing some personality, unlike it his other popular tracks. And you can't deny that the hook of this song is really catchy and jubilant. But I don't like the flow on the verses, and the beat is actually kind of irritating. Quavo also adds absolutely nothing to this song. So yeah, I like this more than I realized, but it's still not a top tier song by any stretch of the imagination.
69. Drowning – A Boogie wit da Hoodie ft. Kodak Black
First, this songs sounds really cool. The beat does a really good job of building the atmosphere of drowning. That alone got it this far, because the rest of the song is nothing special, just another brag rap song. Plus, this features Human Trash #2, so I can't let it be higher than this. Not only because he's awful, but also because he's just a bad rapper. So yeah, this song sounds cool, but the actual performance drags it down a bit.
68. Broccoli – DRAM ft. Lil Yachty
and
67. iSpy - Kyle ft. Lil Yachty
Just realized that I put two similar sounding songs featuring the same artist back to back, so I'll just deal with them both at the same time. These songs basically served the same purpose and I honestly am surprised Broccoli charted because I think of it as a 2016 song. But yeah, I don't like the lyrics on either of these, but they are summery sounding and I see why they were both popular. I like iSpy better solely because I like Kyle more than DRAM. Lil Yachty is pretty pointless on both though. But yeah, these are fine enough.
66. LOYALTY. - Kendrick Lamar ft. Rhianna
Kendrick Lamar had a huge year this year and here is my least favorite of his charting singles. I really don't like the intro to this, it's just grating. But Kendrick and Rhianna complement each other well, and so I don't hate the whole song that much. It just lacks the bombast that I think make Kendrick special for me. This just kind of bores me.
65. Love Galore – SZA ft. Travis Scott
It's really amusing how yet again I have similar songs back to back. Anyway, this one is higher because it sounds better, plain and simple. SZA is really talented and does a good job here. Travis Scott sounds fine also. This also is just really boring to me. It's inoffensive enough, but not something I'd listen to if I had the choice.
64. Look What You Made Me Do – Taylor Swift
Um...so yeah, I don't hate this song nearly as much as most music critics seem to. In fact, I don't really hate it all. See, I don't think this song was ever trying to be a sonically pleasing, critically acclaimed masterpiece. It was released first purely for shock factor and well, it surely brought that. And honestly, the fact that people are talking about still means that Taylor was effective in what I thought was her purpose with this one. Make no mistake, this song is nothing but petty, but Taylor Swift can pull off petty surprisingly well. It's still not a good song, but it does have its moments. Honestly, without that disaster of a chorus, this would be about 20 spots higher at least. I think the second verse, aside from the “rap” part, is awesome. Anyway, I think overplay would have pushed this song further down the list, but it wasn't overplayed. I'm really conflicted on what to think about it, because it's just so blatant in its pettiness and cry for attention and parts of it sounds really bad, but it ends up here because it's a low point for Taylor, albeit one with some genuinely cool moments.
63. Location - Khaild
And we're back to the slow R&B songs that seem to be taking over this set lol. Like I said before, I don't like Khalid's voice. And so this lower than it would be than if someone whose voice I liked sang. The rest of the song is okay enough. I'll even admit the minimalism works here for once. I just don't think it's special at all and haven't heard enough to care about it either way.
62. Feels - Calvin Harris ft. Pharell Williams, Katy Perry and Big Sean
I'm honestly kind of mad that this song wasn't better than it was. Calvin Harris really stepped up his game this year, but the vocal performance on this one drags it down for me. It's fun I guess, but Pharell has always been just there for me, and Katy Perry sounds so checked out here, it's a real turn off from what's supposed to be a fun summer song. Big Sean is really good here though, and although his verse is lyrically kind of ridiculous, it has a nice flow and is actually quite fun. The production is also on point. So this song has a couple of good components, a couple of meh ones, and ultimately ends up here.
61. Malibu – Miley Cyrus
Miley, Demi and Selena all released at least several songs this year, and while Selena's solo work was probably the least appealing to me, this is a close second. I don't know, this is such an abrupt change for Miley and while she sells it, the song itself is just so simple and I don't think she has the charm to pull it off. I was just kind of disappointed in this, and this also held up terribly to overplay. So yeah, it's not awful, but I'm not going to remember it in six months.
Ah, I’ve been so busy that I’m just getting another set up. This is going to be the worst set both because I really wanted to get it posted and because we are squarely in the part of the list where I have no real feelings about these songs. So yeah, this set and part of the next one are going to be a little lackluster, but don’t worry, once we get to top 60, things will start falling into place and I will have a lot more opinions!
80. Both – Gucci Mane ft. Drake
and
79. Fake Love – Drake
I really need to just get through this set and these are (I think) the last Drake songs on this list so I wanted to talk about how Drake has affected hip-hop on the whole. Which I don't know a ton about but I do know that since Drake kind of took over the rap world in 2015-2016, it seems like rap had gotten a lot more boring as whole. I'm not sure if this is entirely true, but I don't like Drake regardless of whether it is or not. So yeah, out of these two songs, Fake Love seems to be getting more hate because of Drake being whiny, which I guess is fair but I just couldn't be bothered with it. And I don't think I've ever fully heard Both, but by the snippets I've heard it seems like just as much of a non-factor. So yeah, Drake sucks.
78. Everyday We Lit – YFN Lucci ft. PnB Rock
Generic party song #10000000. This is probably going to be my laziest write-up because I don't feel like listening through this right now. But yeah, this is mostly funny because it uses the word lit which cracks me up for whatever reason. And yeah, I got nothing else.
77. Rolex – Ayo & Teo
Apparently this is popular because of a internet challenge, which shows how much I know about the internet anymore because I had no idea lol. But this song is at least a little bit more upbeat, even though it sounds really poorly produced. I guess you can't have both an upbeat song and good production in hip-hop this year (or can you? Stay tuned). Also, this mentions Teletubbies, so that's fun.
76. Hurricane – Luke Combs
Oh look, it's finally more country! I think there are 5 “country” songs on this list, and I tried to spread them pretty evenly throughout. And so this song lands here. I don't have a ton to say about it, it just seems like generic country love song to me, and that type of song usually bores me. But the Hurricane metaphor is nice.
75. Don't Wanna Know – Maroon 5 ft. Kendrick Lamar
Honestly, have Maroon 5 been replaced by robots? I've never been their biggest fan, but I did like some songs of theirs from their past two albums. But yeah, they have stopped trying completely and although this isn't the worst offender, it is the first. The only redeeming factor in this song is that the beat is actually not awful. Yeah, it's typical trop pop, but I kind of like that genre. The noise at the beginning is stupid though. Oh, and Kendrick Lamar sounds pretty good and makes the song at least marginally better. But Adam Levine is completely checked out yet again. And the lyrics have a slightly unsettling quality to them. Possessive songs like this irritate me a lot. And yeah, I never hated this song, but it was always just there.
74. XO TOUR Llif3 – Lil Uzi Vert
I think that music critics and listeners as a whole can be spilt into two groups: those who get this song, and those who don't. And I definitely fall into the latter category. I think that where this song really fails is in it's mood and content, because it can't decide what kind of a song it wants to be. It's a confusing mix of bragging and depressive lyrics, and can't figure what the point is. Oh, and Lil Uzi Vert can't sing, or rap or whatever he's trying to do. And if he could, I don't believe him at all. Even in the video, he seems too goofy to deliver a song like this. It's funny that the Weeknd is in the video too, because I'd totally buy this from him. But yeah, this sounds awful and is a confusing mess which is only this high because the hook is kind of catchy.
73. Rockstar – Post Malone ft. 21 Savage
I am so conflicted about this song. It sounds fine and the lyrics weren't just more hedonistic bragging and had some personality and individuality, I might actually have it much higher and I do like the hazy feel the instrumentation has to it. But yeah, the lyrics suck and don't match the beat at all, so it kind of just sounds like a lazy mess. Once again, Post Malone is not believable in the least. Honestly, the popularity of this song came out of nowhere for me, that's how irrelevant I though Post Malone was. Oh, and this blocked Havana from #1, so it can go rot in a ditch as far as I am concerned.
72. I Get The Bag – Gucci Mane ft. Migos
We are getting to the part of the chart with rap songs that I actually kind of enjoy now. I really do like the flow of this songs and especially the hook that Quavo does. The content isn't any different than any of the other Migos songs on this list though, and that's why it's ending up here. But overall, not a bad song, still don't have a lot to say about it. .
71.Young Dumb & Broke – Khaild
This song is pretty okay I guess. It's just boring and repetitive. The lyrics are harmless enough, but like the fact that they directly reference high school kind of turns me off on them a bit. Just because I never really want to revisit high school again. I'm not a huge fan of Khalid's voice either, so there's that. BUT, Normani Kordei is in the video and that alone gave this song like 10 extra spots.
Yay for more list! I’m not sure I’ll actually get this done by New Years at the rate, but I’ll try my best. Anyway, today’s list is mostly songs that suck, but never really made an impact on my year, with a couple notable exceptions. Also, fair warning, there are a lot of rap/trap/hip-hop songs here. Since I don’t listen to rap, I’ve tried my best to give a fair review, I don’t have a lot of feeling towards most of these songs.
Anyway, here’s 90-81 after the page break!
90. That's What I Like – Bruno Mars
I would guess that this is probably my most controversial opinion in this whole list, but I can't stand this song. It's not that it sounds awful or was overplayed (although it was, but so were songs much higher on this list). It's just that this song is one of the sleaziest things to make waves on pop radio this year. Also Bonner Bolton (more on that later). Anyway, the main premise of this song is that Bruno is giving this girl all kinds of fancy things. Which seems harmless right? Nope, because there is a condition behind his gifts, that being that the girl in questions must “pop” and “drop” it for him. Yup, Bruno's basically paying for sex here, or at least headed very quickly in that direction. Now, at this point, it's still not awful right? Stripper anthems are common, so why hate this one in particular? It's the chorus that reveals why Mars is willing to drop this much money on this girl. See, he's not feeding her lobster and champagne because he's trying to satisfy her. It's because that's what HE likes. So basically, he's telling this girl to come perform for him and she'll get lots of nice stuff, but not because she's special or anything, just because that's what he happens to be doing. The girl is basically an afterthought in yet another braggadocios power trip. And while songs like Uptown Funk pull of the bragging, this falls so so flat. The framing is just straight up bad. And Bruno sounds like the worst time of player. So yeah, this song is nowhere near as good as people think it is and I'm not sure why it's getting a free pass. Also, Bonner Bolton did a “dance” to this on DWTS and it was the most sexist thing I've ever seen on the show. Shame on Sharna, but with this song to work with, I'm not surprised.
89 Juju On That Beat (TZ Anthem) - Zay Hilfigerrr & Zayion McCall
This song is real bad, no question, but I can't bring myself to hate it enough to put it on my worst list. I mostly just feel bad for these two kids because someone told them that this was good idea. And yeah, I think most of what needs to be said about this song has already been said. The beat is a rip off, these kids sound awful and the lyrics suck. But let's look at some of these lyrics, because they are so bad they make me laugh. First, they insult “you” and “your daddy”, a great way to get started. Next, they try to rhyme “else” and “fun”, which like in what universe? Also, they make up a word, comparings. Which should mean comparision, but why use the word that's already there? So yeah, this is so bad it's funny, which is why it's not lower.
88. T-Shirt - Migos
Oh Migos. I thought Bad and Boujee was the first Hot 100 they had, but apparently they made a song called “Fight Night” at some point in 2013, so I guess I was aware of that. But yeah, I think that this song is my least favorite of the ones they released this year. It's just a choppy stilted mess, and I don't like the way it sounds. And that's basically my whole opinion on this one. These next few write-ups will be pretty short mostly because I don't really care about this style of music.
87. Bank Account – 21 Savage
Oh yes, the great song where 21 Savage shows that he can indeed count to 8. And actually, I don't mind the beat on this one. At least the piano sounds good, although it's kind of drowned out. But 21 Savage sounds so bad here. He's just completely uninterested in anything that he is saying. And it's repetitive also, so that's two strikes. And yeah, that's all I have to say about this. It's just kind of there and I'm not sure why anyone likes this or cares about it.
86. Rake it Up – Yo Gotti ft. Nicki Minaj
Time for forgettable trap song #3 in a row. But this one has Nicki Minaj, so that's at least different. Not that she's any good here, because I don't get her flow on this song at all. Also, trying rhyming different words, then maybe I'll give your verse a chance. And Yo Gotti sucks too. Another song where the chorus is a repetitive mess. Why this is appealing I will never understand. And yeah, this is another stripper anthem, and it does okay at being that I guess? Idk really. Also the menstruation reference really ruins the song for me. Not sure why that was necessary.
85. Bad Things – Machine Gun Kelly ft. Camila Cabello
LOL, I think I'm just now realizing how bad this song actually is after seeing Camila succeed with Havana, a song she sounds great on. But yeah, it's real bad. First, Camila sounds one bad note away from a voice crack the entire song, and the range of this song is way too much for her to handle. Oh and she doesn't sell it at all. Although Fifth Harmony released some pretty sexual songs, they were never the “bad girls” and Camila's only other solo song at this point was a duet with freaking Shawn Mendes aka Vanilla boy. So she doesn't sound convincing at all. And MGK just sucks, plain and simple. He is not a good rapper and probably shouldn't even try anymore. His flow is very plodding and notD appealing at all. I guess he sells it better than Camila, but he sounds worse. The instrumentation of this song is it's only saving grace and has always been the best part, even when I tolerated it. It sounds like Pachabel's Canon, which is a good sample is that's what they were going for. But everything else is awful, and that's why this song ends up here.
84. Caroline - Amine
Ummm, so again I don't have much to say about this song. It's also has a kind of beat and delivery, which seems to be a commonality here. As for the actual performance, Amine sounds okay, but the content is very confusing. First, I don't like songs that use specific names, especially when they try to generalize them to a greater audience. Also, it seems like the girl here might be interested in a genuine relationship and getting to know each other, which is a noble thought. But Amine just wants to get on with it, and makes it quite clear what “it” is. So that's a dissonance which I'm not particularly fond of. But yeah, not good overall.
83. Magnolia – Playboi Carti
Um so this song didn't seem relevant at all to me. I at least remembered most of the other songs charting in the top 30 or so for a significant amount of time. And look at this chart run, I guess this did too, but it's just so unmemorable. I think that the part of this song that annoys me the most is the rhyming scheme. Something about the “op” and “ock” sound irritates me for some reason. Also, the beat just kind of sounds like a one measure loop. But other than that, this song is completely forgettable.
82. Slippery – Migos ft. Gucci Mane
Didn't take long for Migos to show up again, and with another song that I don't really care about. The flow on this is a little better than on T-shirt, so that's why this is higher, but I still am not super into the random words that seem to make up most of the bars here. The beat is kind of weird too, I'm not sure if I like it or hate it. Either way, this is annoying and I still don't really like Migos.
81. Treat You Better – Shawn Mendes
Ah, Shawn Mendes, or Vanilla Boy, as I called him earlier. I honestly like most of his music, but this is kind of awful in two main ways. First, the lyrics are pretty manipulative and whiny. Secondly, when Shawn tries to emote, his enunciation goes out the door and unlike someone like Ariana, he doesn't sound good enough to make up for it. I honestly don't have a ton to say about this song other than it's a typical “nice guy” anthem. WAIT, I just had an idea. Shawn Mendes should get with Daya, whose just looking for a good boy. lol. Anyway, this might make my worst list for last year, so if it does I'll go into more depth about it there. We'll see.
2017 Year End Ranked 100-91 (or the Top 10 Worst Hit Songs of 2017)
So, I’m ready to start my first huge endeavor as a music blogger. I’m going to rank the Billboard Year End Hot 100 for 2017, leading up to New Years. The plan is to have 10-20 songs out each day for the next week or so. And I’m writing about all of them.
This post is kind of special, as it also doubles as a worst list for the year. I debated whether to list these from 100-91 or 10 - 1 as worst songs, but I decided to keep with their overall rating to make the list process more cohesive. So the first song on the list is the worst song, the second is the second worst, and so on. So without further ado, my Top 10 worst hit songs of 2017 are under the page break. I might edit in pictures later, or I might not because these garbage songs don’t really deserve it.
100. Look At Me! - XXXTentacion
Honestly, **bleep** this song. I hated this from the moment I heard it and I don't think I've ever wavered from this opinion. The beat is the most obnoxious thing I heard this year and XXXTentacion sounds just as pathetic. Also, the lyrical content is hot garbage. From what I can understand, he's begging this girl, who, by the way, is not single, to pay attention to him. And there's a Corbin Bleu reference? Corbin deserves so so much better than this trash. Stupid references to being mormon because he has so many girls and taking a white girl to Starbucks also make my skin crawl. Not to mention, half the song is just “yeah” or “look at me”. It's a pathetic cry for attention and why the public responded I have no idea. Oh, and XXXTentaction as a person is disgusting as well. Beating a pregnant woman is horrendous and the fact that this monster gained traction on the Hot 100 sickens me. So yeah, XXXTentacion is human garbage hiding behind this musical garbage and I won't let this slide. Worst song of the year, no question.
99. Tunnel Vision - Kodak Black
And here we see our second example of a horrible person using an awful song to hide behind. Kodak Black is trash and the way that he tries to play his crimes in this song just confirms that. Have you ever stopped to wonder why “they” don't want to see you winning? Maybe, it's because you are currently accused of rape, did you ever think of that? So yeah, this is an awful attempt at trying to play off his crimes as systemic racism. And honestly, that's what makes me the most mad about this song. The issues of unfair sentences for black vs. white people is a real problem and one that can and probably should be addressed by the media. But the fact that the main song we got on this topic was by an accused rapist who 100% deserves the jail time he will hopefully receive only invalidates this topic and makes a joke of it to those who haven't really considered it an issue. Also, the song is not much better that Look At Me. It is better though, the chorus is kind of catchy and the beat is ok. Of course, Kodak Black ruins this by being completely incompetent on the verses and just sounding like an autotuned mess in general. So yeah, this sucks and is doing negative things to relieve and resolve the racial tension in today's society.
98. Body Like A Back Road - Sam Hunt
I have a lot of feelings about this song, and none of them are good. I don't even hate Sam Hunt, I've found most of his other music enjoyable and some of it might even have a shot at my best lists in 2014 and 2015 (a low shot, but still). But the fact that THIS is his biggest song and the biggest country song since Cruise (which again, I don't hate), makes me so angry. Where do I even start with this piece of trash? I guess the lyrics are an ok place. And honestly, I see no point to this song other than objectifying whatever woman he is talking about. Like, I don't think we get any content about anything other than how hot this girl is and what Sam Hunt is going to do to and with her. I remember that my sister got mad at Shape of You for objectifying women, but at least Ed Sheeran gives her a character. The woman of reference in this song could be literally anybody and the song wouldn't have to change at all. And the music itself combines the very worst of country and hip-hop. I don't particularly care for either genre, and I hate all of the elements that are used in the song. Especially the gang vocals, which seem particularly out of place in a sex song. But yeah, somehow pop radio decided that this was the pop country hit of the summer. It's by far the most relevant and overplayed song on my worst list too, so there's something.
97. Do Re Mi - Blackbear
I'm so confused why anyone cares about this song. Sam Hunt is a big star in country music, so I see why Body Like A Back Road was a hit, and there was enough controversy around the human garbage that I see why it was relevant, but who even is Blackbear? I googled him and he looks like you'd expect a person who would make this whiny mess of a song. Also, apparently he co-wrote Justin Bieber's Boyfriend, so that's a fun fact of the day. But yeah, this song sucks mostly because it's whiny and pathetic. I never saw the appeal to it at all. It's not a direct rip off of the Sound of Music, but it's the only other song I've heard that uses the note names like this, and so we have this comparison, which of course does it no favors whatsoever. Not to mention I saw Do Re Mi written out this other day and this is what I thought of, not Julie Andrews. So yeah, Blackbear is not only making a stupid, whiny song, but he's also ruining one of my favorite childhood songs. So he deserves to be here.
96. Swang - Rae Sremmurd
I wasn't going to put this on my worst list and then I realized how bad it sounded. This is the first song that is here for actually sounding like trash and nothing else. Swae Lee can't sing in falsetto, and that part alone makes this song bottom 10. And it has no redeeming qualities, so here it lands. Other than that though, I really don't care about it, so that's why it's not much lower.
95. Chained To The Rhythm - Katy Perry
If I'm being honest with myself, I've never really liked Katy Perry as much as some of her early 2010s fellow party anthem pop stars (Ke$ha comes to mind), she's kind of been just there. And this, initially, is another one of those just there songs. I think I put on a playlist at one point, and then quickly got tired of it and promptly forgot about it. The production isn't awful, but definitely doesn't catch my eye either. So why is it on the worst list? The lyrics. Listen, just like with Tunnel Vision, there is a place for a song about how influential pop music can be and how most people use it as escapism, but Katy Perry is not the right person to be delivering this, as she has long been a contributor to the mindless pop herself, and even bought into trends like cheap empowerment songs several times. So this is the least believable thing in the world. And she sounds so smug too. It happens every time she tries to have a message other than party on. Roar and Firework have a similar tone and they sour on me with every listen. Katy just sounds so untouchable here and it does not work for the message she is trying to convey. Also, every other single from this album has been a mess as well. So there's that.
94. Cold - Maroon 5
I can't believe that this song is getting the least hate of any of Maroon 5's singles this year. I guess people truly have stopped caring about this band. I know I have. We'll get to their other songs this year in due time, but this by far the one with the least redeeming qualities. This songs is the most ineffective use of minimalism that I've seen this year. I'm re-listening it now and the production is so bad. It's all drums and bass and none of it sounds the least bit interesting. I shouldn't be surprised that Adam Levine sounds completely checked out as well. The lyrical content of this song is not the worst thing in the world, but it needs some genuine emotion behind it for it to work, and Maroon 5 are the furthest thing from genuine I've heard this year. Oh, and Future is here and also phoning it in. I've never really gotten Future, so his verse just feels completely pointless. I guess my point here was that while Don't Wanna Know was a complete rip-off of the tropical house vibes, and we'll get to that, this song showed that Maroon 5 could do far far worse.
93. Issues - Julia Michaels
I think I just recently realized how flawed this song is. We'll get the obvious things out of the way first: Julia Michaels is not a good singer at all, and a minimalistic song was not a good route for her first single. And it's a shame, because she has real songwriting talent, as seen by some of her work with Selena Gomez. But yeah, she is not doing well on this song. And the beat, while better that Cold, also kind of just plods along. I think a song in this vein can definitely be pulled off, but the artist needs to have vocal talent and charisma, which Michaels doesn't.. The lyrical content is also very immature. I remember listening to this song when it first came out because the lyrics were interesting, but I've since realized that they are just stupid. If you judge me then I'll judge you is such a childish sentiment and the fact that this person seems borderline abusive definitely doesn't help this song. This is just a flawed song about a toxic relationship and nothing about it works.
92. Passionfruit - Drake
Ummm, this one is kind of hard to explain. I think it's probably the most controversial choice for my worst list and I guess I understand why some people can tolerate it. I think it just sounds awful. It's mostly the beat, which sounds like music you hear when you are on hold, and that drives me up the wall. And it's not like Drake is interesting enough to make up for the awful waiting room music instrumentation. Apparently this song is about struggling to keep up a long distance relationship. Honestly, the lyrics are cryptic enough that I might not have figured that out, which is kind of an issue because I want to be focused on them over the beat. So yeah, I just personally can't stand this one.
91. I Don't Want To Live Forever - ZAYN and Taylor Swift
This wasn't originally supposed to be this low, but I moved it down when I realized the potential that it squandered. While I hate everything about 50 Shades Of Grey, I really liked some of the songs on the soundtrack, and so I was excited for the soundtrack to the sequel. But instead of Love Me Like You Do, this was the big hit from the album. And so much of what I said about some of the other songs applies to this. I don't like Zayn to begin with, and after the disaster that was Pillowtalk, I don't know why anyone ever chose him to make this songs. Niall Horan writes better sex songs that Zayn, and that's saying something consider the persona of both former 1D members. But yeah, this is kind of Pillowtalk part 2. The atmosphere is okay, and the lyrical content is fine I guess, but I just can't buy Zayn at all, especially in that falsetto. Taylor sounds okay, but again, if you were going for sexy, this is not the song to put Taylor Swift on. Sure, she can be sexy, but she needs lighter production to pull it off (see Wildest Dreams). Also, there is no chemistry here at all. So yeah, if this was a generic single from a Zayn album, I might not hate it this much, but the fact that it squandered Taylor Swift's potential pulls it down about 25 spots on this list for me. Also, it holds up terribly to overplay, and I (and radio) overplayed it. So yeah, I might regret this in a month or so, but this is bottom 10 for me currently.
Hello! I’m Emily, an college junior and avid pop music listener and chart lover. I’ve been following Billboard Hot 100 charts for almost 5 years and finally decided to do something about it. I’m still planning out what this blog will look like but for now expect a piece on the Hot 100 each week, looks back at the year ends from the past several years and features on some of my favorite artists. As 2017 is drawing to a close, my first project will be a ranking of the Hot 100 year end, starting with my worst hit songs of 2017 tomorrow. Hopefully, if you are stumbling across this, it interests you enough to follow along.
