Rewatching Wonder Woman when you know Sir Patrick is Ares like

So at the library I work at, there’s a shelf near the entrance which acts as one of those ‘drop-off’ things, where anyone can leave or take books for free. 

I always make a point to raid it after work, and I often find some pretty great books.

This one time, I was looking through it, and I came across what looked like an old copy of Patrick Süskind’s 'Das Parfum’. I picked it up, and opened it, and it had a dedication in it dated in 1985, which is it year of publication. Suffice to say, i was excited and pocketed the thing. (I don’t think it’s First Edition, it doesn’t say so on the cover, but it’s probably close to that.)

BUT THAT IS NOT ALL, because I recently took it out again to get a closer look (and try to read it but tragically, my German is not at that level yet). And looking at the dedication, I happened to notice something.

Does that say-

OH MY GOD THAT IS NOT A DEDICATION THAT IS AN AUTOGRAPH. PATRICK SÜSKIND SIGNED THE BOOK. I GOOGLED IT AND THAT IS DEFINITELY HIS AUTOGRAPH. 

I know this may not mean much to anybody but it does to me and I WAS NOT READY fOR THIS KIND OF RESPONSIBILITY. I HAVE A 1985 SIGNED COPY OF 'DAS PARFUM’ and i feel like the secretary in Sherlock who discovers her hair pin is worth nine million pounds.

Yuuri once got a tattoo when he got drunk~ it was small tattoo on his wrist that says "Victor" in Russian text. He freaked out a lil when he got sober but figured it looked really nice anyway and just covered it with make up whenever he performs. Years later he meets Victor and he sees it and was like "I didn't know you loved me this much, Yuuri!!" Yuuri was so embarrassed but the next day Victor has Yuuri's name in Kanji tattooed on his other wrist so it touches when they hold hands omg haha

Club AU where Yuuri is a bartender, Yurio takes Victor to "have the old man loosen the fuck up" and Victor accidentally falls in love with Yuuri. He starts visiting Yuuri every day at the club, but when he realizes Yuuri is a huge dork that wears glasses and grandpa sweaters, he asks Yuuri why on earth he would work in such a place. Then Yuuri nonchalantly just downs a bottle of Vodka, rips off his clothes and begins pole dancing as a response.

i know beginner artists are annoyed at the word ‘practice’ being thrown at them by every other artist but i honestly think some of you need to understand the harsh truth. practice is really the only way to improve your art. there are no shortcuts, no tips, no nothing that can turn you into that artist you wanna be. i’m still learning but i knew that frustration well a few months ago. but i had to learn the hard way that i wasn’t going anywhere if i didn’t work. you 👏will👏not👏get👏better👏with👏out👏practice👏 !!!! you will not magically turn into a ‘good’ artist overnight. start working. look up references. study anatomy. practice poses and expressions. PRACTISE

This also applies to writers! You have to keep writing to get better at writing.

I remember a conversation I had with someone once who asked me for help with their fiction, then started comparing theirs to mine at the time because they considered mine “better” than theirs because I was pointing out what wasn’t working in the piece. I specifically remember it too because I had my own work thrown back at me because I went to school for creative writing, and therefore their reasoning was that I was going to be better at it than them and they should just not try.

I reminded them that the only reason I was “better” than them was that I wrote and had been doing so for years at that point. They had only read polished work, not beginner stuff from me, and didn’t have the practice either.

I know this very well in terms of my own writing too - I went a few years of not writing, therefore having zero practice, and have basically had to restart learning the processes and everything all over again. Writing after this long break? My stuff was crap. I read old writing and thought it much better than my current work.

But you have to keep working on it to get better. I’m relearning this myself.
