Strong vocals were the first thing that stood out upon hearing "Passenger" by Hippo Campus. Emotion radiates from vocalist Jake Luppen's as he sings the story-like lyrics. The band is rounded out by Nathan Sticker, Zach Sutton, Whistler Allen, and DeCarlo Jackson. There is something both soothing and powerful about the music, with a movie soundtrack feel to it. Tell us what you think and let us know if you think it's a hit.

#FridayFeelings: “Heartthrob” by Kean Farrar
#FridayFeelings is a blog featuring snapshots of music and artists you should know
“Heartthrob” is a mellow pop song that’s not like most songs on the radio today. The stripped down vibe is nice, and the video is a simple black and white video with Kean cruising around town. The song and video feel similar to “Sweater Weather” by The Neighbourhood. If you like that sound, you just may like this song. Give it a listen and let us know if you think it’s a hit.

#FridayFeelings: “Sleep” by Hatchie

Hariette Pilbeam, who goes by the moniker Hatchie, releases her latest video for "Sleep." The retro vibe of the song feels very much like an 80's anthem. The video follows suit with a look reminiscent of the decade, clothes and all. The Melbourne native looks the part as she sings and plays the guitar with her band. Her vocals, airy and dream-like, echo the title of the song, as well as dream-like scenes with her on a bed and sitting amount clouds. It's a trip to the past while still being modern.

“You Don’t Know” is a song off Moss Kena’s debut EP Found You In 06. Sultry and sensual, the video includes couples kissing and Moss singing the song. The presence of sexuality is a simple and timeless theme that complements the song perfectly, right down to close ups of Moss’s lips uttering the lyrics. The visually gritty feel and low lighting also highlights the soulfulness and smoothness of the song, an exciting find from an emerging artist.

#FridayFeelings: “Right One, Wrong Time” by Kicking Sunrise

Although this is not their latest release, the setting and premise of this "Right One, Wrong Time" caught my attention. Lead vocalist Joe Murphy makes his way around city, ending up at a bar. The scenery is beautiful, and the execution of following Joe as he strolls through the city and takes the subway is is done very well. The song does a great job of blending pop-rock with electronic and soul influences, a refreshing find within the genre.

#FridayFeelings: “The List”by Moonchild

A woman sleepily enters a grocery store to begin the mundane task of shopping, fittingly with a list in her hands. After greeting a seemingly grumpy worker, she ends up discovering a hidden area behind the alcohol that takes her to a beach getaway. She returns energetic, and happily dances through the aisles, as Moonchild sing in the store. You can’t help but smile, especially with what unfolds in the end. The video is light and uplifting, the song smooth and jazzy (in contrast to the frustration in the lyrics). The video and song were a refreshing find that we’re glad we stumbled upon.

It was from an Instagram story that I first head Ady Suleiman. After seeing that clip of a live performance, I checked out his YouTube and was drawn to his most video for “Need Somebody To Love.” From Grantham, England, his accent is prominent and melodic at the start of the song. As he ponders about where and when he’ll meet the one and what she’ll be like, he journeys from backstage at a theatre to the stage where he jams with band mates. The song and video will put a smile a on your face and bring out the romantic in you.
