One of the reasons why so many of us are going astray nowadays is because we do not read the Seerah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
For example, just look at how we men treat our women, we abuse them physically and emotionally, thinking we are “the man”, but we are so far away from the Sunnah.
One day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting at Aisha’s house (May Allah have mercy on her) and his other wife, Umm Salama (May Allah have mercy on her), sent some food to them.
Aisha got so jealous about this that she kicked the bowl of food and broke it. The food was scattered all over the floor.
And what did our beloved Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) do? Did he say: “GO TO YOUR ROOM!”, or did he threaten her?, or did he beat her?
No, rather he put a smile on his face and started cleaning up the food from the floor, saying to his companions: “Your mother got jealous, your mother got jealous.”
Look at the fine manners and beautiful behaviour, if only we would read more about him and strive to be like him.
As a woman, Islam tells me, I’m not here on display and my body is not for public consumption. I’m not to allow anyone to reduce me to an object. I am a soul, a mind, a servant of God. I don’t worship beauty standards, and don’t submit to fashion sense. My submission is to something higher. My worth is defined by the beauty of my soul, my heart, my moral character, and so when you look at me, that character is all you should see, not my body. With my veil I put my faith on display, rather than my beauty, because my value as a human being is defined by my relationship with god, and so I cover the irrelevant, and when you look at me, you view me only as what I am, a servant of the Creator.

“فأنت جميل بلا شك، لكنك لست أصل الجمال، فجمالك تجلى من جمال الجميل. You surely are beautiful, but not the origin of beauty, for your beauty came from the beauty of the most beautiful.”

I am gone quite mad with the knowledge of accepting the overwhelming number of things I can never know, places I can never go, and people I can never be.

His command is only when He intends a thing that He says to it, “Be,” and it is. [ سورة يس Ya-Sin 82 ]
I lost myself looking for completion in everything else. What I needed was what I had and stood right in front of me.
Let go and let God.
As you grow older you realize more and more why the Prophet said that this world is a prison for a believer.
