Arcades were a somewhat familiar place for her, albeit littered with sprinklings of hate for the Mafia. She couldn’t help it - the games were located right around the heart of their headquarters after all, and it was hard not to think of the memories of being thrown junk at while she perused the booths and tables and setups in this quaint little Archimedes arcade. The harsh, neon lights and music blaring over the speakers helped a ton, thankfully, as did the screams of children hanging around the more popular games. Seemed like the Spirale festival gave business a slap to the face with this one!
It was so hard to make a choice of what to play next, though! Gently stroking the golden hairs of her moustache, she wandered from arcade to arcade, from time to time even climbing them or floating in the air to get a better look at her options. Ugh, so many games, so little time! And she was feeling just a tad competitive, too, so she had the responsibility of picking an opponent on her hands. The red-hooded girl gave an unsure hum and laid on the arcade machine beneath her, suddenly feeling overwhelmed with all the choices and the music and the lights and the screaming.
Her eyes began to wander and eventually landed on what looked like an air hockey table, immediately catching her attention, evident by her face lighting up. She hasn’t seen a working one in years! She practically launched herself towards it, sharp teeth curled in a grin as she ran her hands over the framing and grabbed the red pusher on the side closest to her. Jackpot!
... Now, what about an opponent?
Mu searched the vicinity opposite of her, happening to meet eyes with what seemed to be another kid around her age, glowing blue(was that from the neon lights everywhere?) and followed by what she assumed was their pet. Were they just an observer? Were they in a hurry to play anything but air hockey?
Well, the red-hooded girl didn’t really care to consider either of those questions, because she immediately smiled at them and prepared to strike with her pusher: a silent invitation and challenge.
If you asked her why this entire festival was themed around melons, Mu’d shrug her shoulders and drag you to another melon-themed ride to enjoy - it was unique, thematically, but it was really charming! Better than fish, am I right?
She’s been wandering the stalls laid out on the beach, keeping her hood drawn up and over her face to shelter it from the scorching sun, and following a peculiar set of footprints left around the market and the festival attractions. It was like an adventure of her own! Like the kid with the hat’s murder mystery movie, except with a totally different setting and no murder; unless whatever was leaving the footprints was murderer.
She took another chomp of the melon slices she carried in her hand and uttered a hasty, “Comin’ through!” as she snuck behind some of the stalls, catching a glimpse of a red tail sneaking away. Mu slowed her steps, golden eyes gleaming with curiosity. Whether the creature knew that she was hot on their trail or not, she was determined to say hi to it. So, as Mu arrived at an empty decorative boat, she peeked up over the edge and ...
... Saw ... something - a cat? a slug? - sitting there.
She couldn’t help but stare, and after a moment, slowly reached out a slice of melon and wiggled it, murmuring softly, “Here, kitty kitty!”
the event’s over so it’s time for a new starter call!! hit the like if you’d like to be friends with a red gremlin!! i’ll also be continuing pre-event threads as soon as i find them whoops,
“So you wish to fight them, little one? Then I have a very simple question for you.” The desire of the prisoners to strike back at their shared captors was nothing new. It was even admirable, in a way, if it wasn’t for the fact that eventually, people lost that interest in fighting them directly.
He lifted a hand, and off in the distance, the clouds parted as purple meteors screamed their way through the sky, dropping into the ocean. This storm of meteors began inching its way towards the horizon, until it couldn’t be seen by either of them. With more waves of his hand, more storms appeared, going off into the horizon from other points they could see.
“Where are they? Not on this island. Not around us. Not under us. Not within, not without. They simply do not exist here. You can’t do anything to them, none of us can, because they are not in this world, with us. Like that horizon, no matter how hard any of us try, no matter how those we’ve lost have tried, they are out of our reach. It isn’t a matter of strength.”
... Okay, he was kinda right. Though the name could’ve been some sort of hint, she had zero clues on where or how to find them.
For now, she told herself.
"I’ve managed to mess with time before! I think I could figure out the space part too." she assured him, not quite proud but not regretting messing up timelines either. A brow quirked at the sight of his hand extending, and the red-hooded girl followed Nightmare Knight’s line of sight towards the sky and towards the meteors and the hazy purple hues.
She hasn’t seen a meteor shower in years. “When I get my powers back and Hat Kid gets her ... waaait wait wait!!”
He was making those meteors! Mu bounced in place, golden eyes flicking between the storms and the Nightmare Knight, before she floated up and towards him - though he was obviously not distracted, Mu was waving her hands and wanting to catch his attention.
“Whoah, are you- YOU’RE doing that to the sky?! How - actually, don’t tell me how, that’d ruin the mystery-” she took a breath as she landed upon his palm, beaming with determination, “You’ve got the kind of power I’m talking about when I think “Galaxy gets their butts kicked and stuffed and punched and messed up”! C’mon, you could help EVERYONE out here!”
FANTASIA WARS RAID (aka Mu plays pinball with her clone)
WORDS 1,547
CONTENT WARNINGS: mild violence?(no bloodshed or anything getting broken, but this sure is two kids trying to beat each other up! possible warning for child death if you count mu’s mist reaper disappearing as death!)
ACCOMPANYING MUSIC
“Hey!! Two against one counts as cheating, you dumb copycat!!”
Felt kind of weird, calling someone who looked exactly like you “dumb”, but this was no time for reflective introspection and dissociation! The red-hooded girl had gotten herself into quite a pinch, what with her clone cornering her away from where all the major fighting was happening and into a quieter piece of the forest of Airaisal. Not only that, but that clone managed to catch the attention of a few of Essair’s pestlike monsters to help it out. Great.
“What kind of lousy clone are you anyway?! I’m a one-hero army and here you are, acting like a bad guy and getting a bunch of henchmen to do your dirty work for you!”
She never noticed the mist reapers expressing any kind of emotion before, but the moment she finished her sentence she could’ve sworn she saw its mouth twist into a frown. She didn’t get to have a good look at it, as the clone quickly brought its hands up and illuminated the area with an overbearing, bright purple, signalling the hissing pests to attack with a laser beam that looked just like Mu’s.
Teeth gritted, Mu swiftly made her way out of harm’s way via leaping in the direction of a tree, planting her feet against the bark and using the push to give her a boost in momentum. Streaks of black were left in her wake, coating her form in darkness like that bad guy’s pets, and before making contact with the ground, she shifted out of view with a sharp kshp!
The ghosts chasing her would stop momentarily, eyeing their surroundings and each other before one bearing golden swirls and speckles lashed out at the others, tearing their bodies and knocking them back with solid slaps to the face. Mu turned on her heel after one dissipated into smoke, eyes widening at the sight of the other pests lunging at her in retaliation - let this work, let this work - but then they bumped into the glow that appeared between them and her, glowing with a protective, comforting blue. Yes!!! Even with one Time Piece, that worked! She smirked at the confused chittering coming from the pests, running a hand across her cape and flicking it behind her in a single, confident motion. Heh!
“Wha- whoah!!” her clone suddenly charged at her with its own shield activated, bouncing her back like an inflated ball and knocking her into the base of a tree. Not the smoothest of landings, but the important things were that she managed to heave herself back on her feet and that her shield was still up.
She glared at her clone, fired up and- what was it doing? The clone merely winked at her and ran its hand across its cape, flicking it behind itself in a single, confident motion-
“Excuse me?!”
A single scoff was drawn out of her mouth before she countered the copy, lifting herself into the air and smashing into the ground as well as her clone with a powerful ferocity. It sent it flying the other way and released a shockwave that stunned any pests before they could attack Mu. They continued bouncing against each other like that, trying to break the others shield and get away with having their own unshattered, like two balls in a pinball game.
“Who do you think you are that makes you think you can just mock me like that?! You’re just gonna pretend that you can flaunt like I do so easily and- and just get away with it, huh?!”
She cursed the ground beneath her clone with Time Pieces(only one of which wasn’t a fake made of energy), and the air filled with dozens of haunting hums, accompanying Mu’s words as the clone desperately dodged the lines of fire exploding from within the ground.
“I’m not just going to let you do that! I don’t know if you’re your own person or if you’re, whatever- the bad guy disguised as me or something, and you know what?!”
The red-hooded girl’s shield shattered when she chose not to dodge out of the way of her clone’s counterattack - pft, of course it’d go for the time cracks right after she did it - and instead opted to charge her laser.
“-- I don’t care! You’re just a stupid, smelly old shadow, you’re nothing like me and you don’t even deserve to mock me--”
The scalding, barely bearable flames of the laser always made her palms tingle, and she powered through it each time. The mustached girl closed one eye and stood her ground, grinning when she spotted her clone getting caught in the blast.
“-- because you haven’t got the slightest clue what I’ve been through that shaped me into who I am!!”
The connection between the beam and her hands severed as she brought her hands apart, fingers curling and beginning to unintentionally shift into sharp, webbed claws; it’d be a miracle for a viewer to notice it with a blind eye however, as the red-hooded girl simultaneously shifted out of sight. She reappeared in front of her clone, who, despite feeling just a tad toasty because of the plasma, anticipated her arrival and recovered just in time to block her one, two, one, two punches, each drawing a more determined heh! from Mu, “I’m gonna end this with a cool punch to your face, just you wait- !”
And then she yelped, for she was yanked away from the one pest that came out unscathed from their earlier cacophony of chaos. Thankfully(for its own sake, really) it wasn’t large enough to be able to pick her up by her cape, though it did catch her off guard and give an opening for her clone. Mu’s vision filled with that same familiar blue colour from before, and if weren’t for the fact that she knew it wasn’t hers, she’d be pleasantly comforted. Her clone bounced into her, knocking her into the ground with an unbearable pressure and sending out waves of electricity across the clearing.
Mu was pinned right now.
“Dude, get off me!!” try as she might, those words fell upon deaf ears. She nearly bit her tongue as she quickly lunged with one hand, catching her clone’s fist in her palm. As the very least she could prevent it from getting a good punch in on her-
“Gwuh!!” The other fist now. Ugh, they had the same powers!! Evenly matched! How long was this gonna go on for?! Mu wasn’t exactly looking to hang out with this loser for a minute more, but what could she do?! A quick glance around her revealed burnt grass, disturbed dirt - no pests left luckily, the shockwaves her clone just made must’ve beaten the last one up - but nothing that she could use, or grab with her feet, really. Her knuckles were starting to go pale. Hurt from holding her own twisted power back.
She shouldn’t just lose the fight here. If she lost, not only would that have an effect on her, it’d have an effect on the fight between the tree lady and the bad guy with the big ugly face!
Heroes don’t lose. They don’t lose. They don’t lose. They don’t lose …
The red-hooded girl breathed in. Webbed claws took away her fingers and dark slimy scales took away her speckled skin, giving way to an appearance that was halfway between what she was comfortable with and what she considered bothersome but cool. She put off the conscious decision to remain humanlike and instead directed that energy to wanting to have the Time Piece in her hand.
It materialised just like that, wedging itself between her claws and the clones fingers. And, with a grip that threatened to shatter the hourglass, she grabbed a hold of it and hurled it at her clone’s face, smashing through the barrier and into its cheek. At last she managed to hurl that mist reaper away from her and into the air; and she caught sight of it dissipating into dark smoke before it had the chance to hit the ground next to her.
She didn’t lose.
Mu let out a half-cough, half-laugh and then a relieved yet exhausted groan, her fingers and skin returning to how she liked it. She allowed herself to relax and breathe for a moment, finally rest after the fight. In fact, she wiggled her body into the earth a little more, getting comfortable and curling her legs and wrapping the corner of her cape around herself like a blanket. Her Time Piece was held tightly against the medallion on her chest - a reminder that she was strong. She had a comfortable little bed made of dirt.
At least she didn’t end up in a tree like that one other time, right? She snorted.
…
She should probably get up. There was still a fight to be won - this one was just the start.
Ten more minutes.
But the longer she lay curled up in the dirt bed, the more dirty her get up would get! And she still had to fix her mustache ...
Ah, to be a simple child again. Where your only struggles were kicking around a ball and keeping a firm grip onto a balloon’s string. Now, they had knighthood, and actual hoods, and… oversized hourglasses. Whatever that was about, he supposed. Accessories were important.
“They don’t flap, and I can’t seem to control them, so I do believe they aren’t wings.” Hmm, so yet another of the kingdoms they had been placed in had corruption? What was even the purpose of these little kingdoms? Just another difference for the people to fight over?
“Something like this. I’ve seen cities flooded, caught in a terrible unending blizzard, I’ve seen people trapped underground in massive labyrinths, and I have even seen false copies of a city come from the sky, along with a handful of alternate dopplegangers to do battle with. Suffice it to say, finding yourself in a fantasy land of racial tensions is par for the course.”
“Oh. At least you get the aesthetics then, huh?” she was trying to look on the bright side here, but what was the point of having cool wings if you couldn’t fly with them? Boring.
Her nose began crinkling with every event he described, further fuelling the fire made just for the Galaxy. Mu didn’t like how relaxed he spoke about it all- “Par for the course. Pfft.” she looked to the hourglass in her hand and her fingers curled around it, holding it so tight she thought she might break it, “When I get my powers back, I’m going to do everything I can to beat up the stinkbags causing all these disasters and get everyone home.”
Mu looked to the Nightmare Knight, jumping off the back of the bench and standing up straight, facing him with bewilderment and distress, “By the way, has nobody tried to do that yet?! How strong is this “Galaxy” that they just keep doing these sorta things with no problem whatsoever?”
The forest is kinda scary… really scary, actually, but at least there isn’t anyone here annoying you! It gives you a good opportunity to practice some of the spells you can now apparently cast. Like having a little ball of light in your hands!
When you hear someone coming, though, you quickly squish the light ball between your hands, and it goes out with a small pop. Your eyes adjust alarmingly quickly to the dimness of the forest; through the fog, you can just barely see a light up the slope to your right. There’s a noise, and then a shout, and the light and whoever’s holding it come tumbling down the hill towards you. You’re ready to make a run for it before you realize you recognize that voice, and sure enough, it’s the red-hooded girl! Unlike you, she looks sort of the same, but also sort of different, in a way you can’t really place right now.
You don’t have an answer to her question, and besides, that’s not what’s important! What’s important is that she’s using a Time Piece as a flashlight! … Which is actually kind of smart, and you’d never thought of doing that before. But she’d fallen a pretty long way with it! Is it damaged? Probably not, since there hadn’t been any hiccups in time. Still, she shouldn’t be waving it around like that! You jump forward, trying to push the Time Piece down to get the red-hooded girl to put it away, or at least lower it so it isn’t so bright.
“Careful with that!!”
“... Wh?” with a confused blink(or two), she furrowed her brows and pulled the Time Piece closer to her chest, standing to her feet, “Wwwow. Hey, are you okay after falling all the way down the hill? Yeah, I’m fine, Hat Kid, thanks for asking!”
Though she took on a mocking tone, she did let out a soft pfft at the end of it - Hat Kid’s priority with the Time Piece was just a tiny bit funny. Plus, not like she cared if she asked if she was okay! The red-hooded girl put away her sword, but did leave the Time Piece out to spite the other kid, allowing it to hover in her palm, “C’mon, it’s not like I’ll end time again with just one of these-”
And, as if by coincidence, the skies beyond the twisting, curling branches of the canopy began to flash red with thunder. Mu held her hood with a hand as the wind picked up in tandem, eyeing what she could see of the sky. Okay ... spooky.
“... Uh ... ahem-” she motioned to Hat Kid, “Why are you out here? I thought you were scared of big, spoooky forests or something. Or did the Snatcher infect you with his aesthetics?”
Now… this may come as a total shocker to you but, inside Kiwi’s little mind they had not realized that maybe, just maybe– walking into enemy territory for information was a bad idea. In fact, up until they were outright threatened, they thought the whole ‘investigating’ thing was going well! Being on the outskirts of town and being talked to first thing seemed lovely at first glance considering their interaction with previous NPCs in their own kingdom were pretty fruitful!
It’s a shame they forgot the key informational tip– that everyone outside of the forest and such are hard wired to outright dislike the poor fella. So, Kiwi kept their grin on through the threats were now dished at them. (virtual) Reality settled in.
Awkwardly laughing, Kiwi’s voice came out a lot meeker than intended,
“ Haha, green bean…! Good one! Never heard that one before!
Now, I’m not here to cause any trouble. I just wanted to–”
They’re cut off as one of the assailants is knocked down, thought process now stamped by this young.. girl. Upon her taking a guarded stance, she makes a threat big enough for the both of them– almost as if she’s the protagonist in a play.
“ H-Huh?! Wha– ” They’re caught by the girl’s smile and they can only gulp… unsure if they should tell this girl that they have absolutely no offensive spells or combat skills in the slightest or… let her take the show. That seems bad in retrospect, actually. They seem at least twice her age, why would they let her fight at all?! Wait, no, she did just knock one of these guys down and… Snap out of it, Kiwi. Danger.
“ I don’t know about both of us but–” once more, their statement is interrupted–This time by aggressive yelling from all angles.
“ NONONO!! Wait–!! ”
Kiwi spreads their hands outward defensively and begins waving them about in a futile attempt to calm them down. Their eyes shortly after squeezed shut, braced for whatever impact that was most likely going to occur.
Much to Kiwi’s dismay, Mu seemed more than happy to join in on the yelling! She let out a battlecry of her own and charged forward, striking her sword against another of the bad guys’ and easily overpowering them with a few carefully-planted parries and slices, finishing with a kick to the face.
At that point she’d realised that the bard wasn’t as keen on fighting as she was, looking to see how they were doing and noticing they were ... just waving their hands around. Mu let out an audible groan, running her own hand over her face, “Have you never fought before?! You’re not going to convince these brutes to get lost by just standing there! Come on-”
Her golden eyes widened at the sight of a merman approaching Kiwi, readying to deliver a punch to them.
“Hey, Bean Kid! Behind you!!”
... Anddd she would have probably helped out, if it weren’t for the largest member of the unkindly NPCs snatching her cape and holding her up with a laugh. Teeth gritted, the red-hooded girl clawed at their hand, trying to reach their face with the sword and failing. “Let, me- let me go, you stupid tuna guy! I’m warning you, I’ll WILL start biting!”
Ugh, whatever, at least they weren’t throwing her! She looked to Kiwi and hoped they were doing better than she was-
Wow, who could’ve guessed that there would be a spooky forest in this place too! And who could’ve guessed that she’d get lost in it!
The red-hooded girl couldn’t quite place her finger on it, but it was like the forest was intentionally shifting and trying to get her to wander deeper in instead of out. And she didn’t know how to make her Time Piece glow brighter than it already did, if it could at all, so she was pretty limited in terms of seeing through the fog ...
Climbing over a worryingly big vine covered in thorns, she lifted the hourglass higher in front of her and squinted at the slope in front of her. She stopped for a moment, letting her mind wander like the wind rustling through her cape. Where was the kid with the hat right now? She hadn’t seen her at all since arriving to this fantasy land and becoming ... an eel. Was she okay ... ?
... Meh! Who cares, she was probably fine! She could handle herself. With a shrug and a step forward, she- oh, right, there was a slope there. Off she went, tumbling down and yelling “bwuh, ouch!!” before managing to twist her body around enough to slide instead. To add the salt in the wound, here was someone at the end of the hill as well. Unable to make out their face through the fog, she held her Time Piece in one hand and her stolen sword in the other, ready to bounce back onto her feet when she reached them.
... Wait, why’d they look familiar?
“... Hat Kid???” she slid to a slow stop at last, all geared up to throw hands but finding herself unable to do anything but stare. Wh-
“I am old, little one. I am meant to be sad. It is what old people do.”
A little hooded child. Not the worst thing to greet him as of yet in this mockery of a world, but it could easily go bad if he wasn’t careful. Though, he was going to chance a correction. “No tail, but I do have wings, possibly.” They just didn’t move. If they did, he couldn’t make it happen. Maybe he just didn’t have the imagination for it.
“Do you need something, little one? Looking for shelter, some scrap of familiarity in this little vignette we find ourselves trapped in?”
“... I guess?” she wasn’t old, so she wouldn’t know what old people did except sit around and stink! She’ll add ‘being sad’ to the list, though.
She landed and settled on the back of the bench, resting the hourglass on one knee, eyeing his back where his foggy wings were - he was right, though, no tail ... still cool as heck.
“Uh, “possibly”? More like yeah, you’ve got wings! Look,” the red-hooded girl reached out to give one of them a gentle but firm push, then furrowing a brow at his questions, “Well, this place isn’t Mafia Town ... except maybe that coastal-themed empire, it’s got a corrupt government and everything. And I get to be an actual knight-”
Mu stretched out a hand to motion not to just their surroundings, but to the entire situation they’ve found themselves in, “Does this sorta thing ... happen often? I know you’re sad right now, but you’re taking it reaaaal calmly.”
The coastal theme of the Opalarian streets very much reminded the red-hooded girl of home, even if they were much fancier, exotic-looking than how Mafia Town looked before the ... well, Mafia, forced itself in.
Her nose scrunched up at the memory, golden eyes glaring at the channel of water built into the road. She didn’t mean to give that look to the goldfish swimming idly through the water, even if she couldn’t help it - she reached down to dip her hand into the water, spooking some fish and inviting others to gently nip at her fingertips, thinking they were food.
With a sigh, Mu rested her cheek in the other hand. Okay, she couldn’t stay mad when they were doing that. She wiggled her fingers and brushed them against their slimy scales, giggling and muttering an “ew” under her breath.
Immediately after, she flinched at the sound of voices further down the otherwise deserted street, causing the remaining fish to flee. Mu lifted her head with a squint, stilling her hand to listen; there was some woman walking on the other side, talking with what seemed to be the Opalarian locals. She took note of the suspicious way they eyed the woman and seemingly avoided her questions, then glancing to Noire herself - there was something familiarly off about the way she looked, but otherwise, she just seemed to be asking about the governing powers.
The red-hooded girl threw her brows up, blinking. Hm.
... Hm.
She waited until the locals wandered off to do their own business, then stood to her feet and bounded in Noire’s direction.
“Hey, you!” she waved, ensuring her voice was hushed yet clear, “Youuu wouldn’t happen to be asking about the corrupt, so-called “council”, would you? I think I might be a little more help than any of the locals - they kinda ... don’t like it when people criticise the folks in charge here, let’s say, eheh.”
It seemed that Kiwi had found themself in the wrong sort of company while asking the local Opalarians about what’s happening between the kingdoms.
Mu had overheard the chatter, something about “beating up the little green bean” while making her way down an alleyway, meeting face-to-face with a fence when she rushed to investigate. Ugh. Fingers curling around the smooth, silvery bars, she pressed her mustache against it and peeked to see what looked like plant person surrounded by three, maybe four nasty-looking individuals from the local neighbourhood.
Furrowing her brows, she scaled the fence and wormed her way into the situation - did I say wormed?
Nope, barged in fit better, with the way she kicked one of the fishier-looking individuals down, snatched up their sword, and skidded to a stop next to Kiwi before turning around and holding the weapon high into the air with a triumphant grin.
“You losers better get off this “bean’s” back, or else we’ll both make sure you end up being planted into the ground yourself!!”
Despite the harshness of her tone towards them, she looked up to Kiwi with a bright yet reassuring smile.
Breathing underwater? Cool! Shapeshifting powers! Cool! Glowing in the dark? Cool, but not all the time everywhere!! It was fun at first, but when people started noticing her and saying all sorts of mean stuff(something along the lines of “go back to the depths”, weirdly enough?) it kinda started to hurt.
So she kept her Time Piece out and close by, letting the light gleaming from the glass obscure the golden swirls and specks scattered over her skin. And while tiptoeing along the rooftops on the outskirts of Xalphina, the red-hooded girl noticed something peculiar - a rather lonely-looking ... dragon man?! okay, awesome? - sitting on a bench. By himself. Gloomy lighting and all, with what little light was shed from the lamppost nearby. It was like a painting, really.
Arching a brow, she hopped down and slowly drifted downwards to the Nightmare Knight, resting a cheek in one hand. Sharp, purple - was he brooding?
“You look ... reaaally sad, for someone who’s a LITERAL dragon with wings and a cool tail?”
That was her way of saying hi. Hi, Nightmare Knight.
okay i think i can do a starter call on mu without overwhelming myself so,, if you wanna thread with a mischievous little shapeshifting knight, hit that like!! i’ll cap it at 3 with castmates exempt??
wuh oh guess who’s schemin’!! mu’s about the same appearance and powers wise! ... although, uh, something’s kinda off ...
she’s a little siren knight! still trying to get a grip on the whole shapeshifting deal but she’s able to return to her REAL real form, so at least that’s going for her.
she’s mostly hanging in opalaria, where she’s sworn to overthrow and fix the corrupt government! not many people want her there, but she refuses to leave, and they can’t make her! she can also be found everywhere else, doing heroic things or causing chaos or fighting.
she’s really confused! everything looks super cool?! there’s magic?! there’s dragons?! she has a SWORD now, wow!!
anddd here’s something of a Doodle of her real siren form! she’s eely and slimy and toothy and clawy. and she glows in the dark! still baby though, since she IS a kid.
“What are you looking at?” Ugh, children. Vaati held no fondness for them, they were loud and rude and very annoying. Perhaps it was some residual loathing from having once been a minish, or perhaps it was just because of his age. Regardless though, he was glaring pretty blatantly at this child, which had earned him at least a couple stares from passersby.
“Do you need something, you little brat?”
Though Mu held in mind that good guys and bad guys came in all sorts of shapes and sizes, this guy just seethed of pure meanness. The way he walked and held himself, and even talked to her just now - it made her golden gaze only harden in his direction, one hand clutching the Time Piece in her pocket. Brat.
She sniffed - in that cool, dismissive way - and intertwined her fingers together, stretching them out in front of her as she ever-so-calmly approached Vaati. Then, with a shake of her shoulders, she assumed a posture and tone similar to his, and-
“Do YOU need something, you little brat?”
- said that, with a grin. The Mafia Boss got a kick out of her mocking him, so surely this guy would be head over heels about it too.
“NO! I wouldn’t want you as a minion if you were the last stupid creature on the planet! In fact, I’d rather have a useless flatworm as a minion than you!”
The ghostly noodle can’t just toss her into the sea, not this time… not yet anyway; he’ll definitely do that in the future, and he marks that down in his mind. But he needs another plan that doesn’t involve supernatural ability.
“I don’t need to defeat you in one shot. Don’t you know a slow, painful death is just as good, often times better? That’s what you’re going to get. And it might not even be by me!”
Yes. He’ll just hire someone to do it for him! Or follow her around and annoy her until she jumps into the hole herself! It’s great!
“Pfft, as if I’d ever want to be your minion! You stink like an old person, your contracts suck, and you’re not even good at being scary!” she snarked back, pulling on one lower eyelid and letting out a bpphh! to emphasise her point.
His words didn’t scare her - opposite of that, now that she remembered that she had a Time Piece in her possession. Hat Kid had none, and that definitely meant that nobody else had them. She paused and eyed the Snatcher, completely glossing over what he was saying about death and suffering and who-dun-its.
... She could definitely just float up there and give him a slap. Could a ghost be described as having a slappable face?
Mu stuck her tongue out from a mischievous smile, searching her pockets - aha! A blue spray can.
“Heeey ... ghosts can’t be hit unless they’re blue, right? C’mere!”
