Mercedes Benz logo analysis
The Mercedes Benz logo is an iconic logo that has been around for over a century.
The logo is meant to stand for the brand’s goals and motivations.
"Together, the Mercedes-Benz star’s 3 points represent the company’s drive for
universal motorization — but each point also has its
individual meaning. The points represent land, sea, and air —
environments the company believed they would one day dominate with Mercedes-Benz engines."
I find the logo to be aesthetically pleasing and I get the feeling of confidence when I look at it.
The color of the logo tends to be a shiny silver and the logo has become very distinguishable over the years.
barely changing from its original design in 1909. The logo is extremely functional put in any context.
Quicksilver logo analysis
The quicksilver logo is iconic and has barely changed since it was designed. It was designed by the owners of the brand themselves. The logo encapsulates the brand perfectly making it a very functional logo. There is both a mountain and a wave, which represent the water and mountain sports attire that they sold at the start of the brand now the brand offers more things but still remembers its roots.
The logo’s size adapts to the contexts it is put in.
The logo is aesthetically pleasing, the black and white colors are clean.
I find the logo to be very memorable and it is a bit nostalgic for me as well.
My interview with artist and marketing executive for the four seasons Angela Costa. I was introduced to Angela by Ali Shehabi. I have known them for the same amount of time, Angela is also someone I love to talk about art with and admire. Here are 7 questions I asked Angela costa.
Why do you make art?
“I make art because it comforts me, and I use as a way of therapy it reminds me of my and home also and that comforts me.”
How does where from affect your art?
“I would say where I am from is the main source of inspiration for my most of the art I make. when I am making art, it reminds me of simpler times of being a child in the Philippines.”
Which medium do you like the most?
“I used to like writing the most, but I find too difficult sometimes, I would like to focus on filmography more now I feel I could be great at it.”
How have you dealt with self-doubt as an artist or just in your day-to-day life, do experience a lot of self-doubt?
” I doubt everything I am always second guessing myself I try not to overthink to much counteract the feeling of self-doubt and it has helped me.”
Do you look at other artists or take inspiration from them?
“not really well it depends for my drawing I have my own style and I don’t look at others art but for photography and filmography I love to feed my brain with images and movies that I enjoy one of my favourite directors is Wes Anderson and I feel like take a lot of inspiration from him I love his symmetry and his colours both are elements I hope manifest themselves in my art”
What is your dream job?
“I would love to make a digital agency, a place where I can monetize my creativity and others creativity with videos and photos of our clients. Corporate work does not excite me I would like to avoid it.”
What is your favourite piece of art that you have made?
“This is my ancestral house we had this statue of the goddess of health because it used to be an old hospital I believe it was one of the first hospitals in the region , I think of this piece because of what it means to me and what it reminds me of I know it’s not my best piece of art from a technical stand point but I love the composition and what it reminds me of.”
When did you move here?
“Well, I was visiting Bahrain because my mom lived here it was my last year in university, I thought to myself why not apply for a part time job the next thing I know I am working as an assistant executive in a marketing agency. that was in 2016.”
How do you want your work to affect others?
“I want people to feel something anything even if it was not the intended emotion put into the artwork. the biggest complement I can get is “your work reminded me of something or somewhere someone I love””.
That was the interview I had with Angela costa thank you Angela for your art and thank for taking the time to let me interview you.
The second ad is from the same era. the ad is for the sony walkman. The text is minimal and it does its job
it shows the the brand name the product name and the function of the product in english and french also in the bottom right corner there is type saying sony warranty.
the graphics in this photo show two young people on their roller skates while listening to something on their walkman.
there is also a photo of the product itself so the consumer can get a better look at it which is a great decsion that the design team made because without this photo the ad would not be as clear.
The charaters in this photo are shown to be enjoying their time together and the walkman seems to be enhancing their moment. The ad gives the sense of joy and childlike fun that we all should remember incorparate into our everyday lives.
their is no specfic story being told its more of a moment in time that in my opinion conveys the feeling of care-free adolesence very well the vibrant and joyful colors, the movment ,the smiles on the charaters faces, all support the feeling of fun .
This first ad shows a picture that was taken during the 1979 energy crisis it was used for a Nike ad to represent the never give up attitude of nike .
It shows a man running with nike shoes on behind him is a gas station that is out of gas this in my opinion is supposed represent humanities ability to perceivier and overcome obstacles despite the conditions of their surroundings .
The copy?
The slogan used "is a bit of independence"
I think what they are trying to convey is humans dont need to rely on external life to get the job done all they need is themselves and maybe a pair of nike shoes.
Also the man in the photo is alone which supports the word independence.
The graphics?
The photo used shows a man running
With a pair of nike shoes” just doing it”
He is athletic and fit unfazed with what is going on around him he continues to run despite the conditions and state of what he has no control over.
The brand: the whole picture supports the message of the brand. Which is the never give up attitude despite what you are going through.
The logo : the logo is shown in the ad it's the only indicator of and ad on the mans shoes.
Characters : their is one character in the ad a man running alone with some nike shoes on.
Story: the ad tells the story of humanity who dosent give up
Does it remind you of and ad ?
Yes it does June 1975 in the long run
Slogan : a bit of independence
Motivation: its message is to keep going despite the circumstances
A story i made this semester. i enjoyed the experience.

One of my concerns about being on the internet is coming across uncommitted and uncurated when I post art in various mediums or try a new process. But I also think it’s good to stay curious and keep trying new things. It’s healthy and fun.
I started practicing these digital paintings because I’m interested in taking a Painting for Animation class, but I come from a different skill set and would need to learn quite a lot in advance. I have yet to draw a beautiful interior in perspective but I think my voice is showing up in the paintings of trees and plants, which have frequently appeared in my work.

ASSIGNMENT 2 (Typographic Logo).
These are some of photos of exhibitions i visited this semetster.
The first first three photos was from the exhibtion in ithra titled "The art of orientation" it was about "the historical meaning, evolution and function of mosques, their interiors and their artifacts".
the fourth photo is a piece from My second exhibition in ithra it was the “from earth” exhibition it highlighted the artworks of artists across Saudi in a wide variety of mediums from oil on canvas to wood carving it is titled from earth because all the pieces in the exhibition were inspired by the environments of the artists. it encouraged me to think about my place as a Saudi artist and to look at my surroundings as art.
The final exhibtion was the Multimedia Design exhibition (the last two photos)
The Multimedia Design exhibition in AUB, showcased art from a very wide range of mediums from handrawn animations to digital photography, I always love to admire local art it motivates me, inpires me and keeps me driven. One of my favourite art works was "egodeath"by Abdulmajeed. It was a small digtaly drawn frame by frame booklet it showcased a man looking at himself and slowly you see his ego emerge from his bodie in the shape of some kind of bird and the ego grows and grows and grows filling the pages until it shatters and to turns into nothing.
I suggest for everyone to go to these exhibtions there were very insightful and exciting.

In this excersise we are meant give a visual metaphor for high achievment.
in the first photo their is a person with a flag on top of a large mountain he climbed. I was inspired by alex honalds free solo documentary.
In the second illustration i show medal that says 42k which is the distance of a full marathon. I hope to run a full marathon someday its one of my long term goal which is why I drew this.
