Ah, yes,
another day where i am the reason for everyone’s anger even though i am definitely not the reason for everyone’s anger...
Cats, by Rozenn Grosjean.
It's been a while. But this is the place I've always come to let it out. So here goes.
I feel unloved. Having a big family is hard. Having a big, royally fucked up family is harder, I guess. Having a big, royally fucked up family who is around all the time because your narcissist grandfather lives with you is, well, not fab.
But we make it work. We dance around subjects and drink wine and walk from room to room, playing a weird game of chess where no one is king or queen but everyone thinks they are.
That is, unless you're me. I walk from room to room, no one wants to engage with me, because no one knows what to talk to me about. Horses are doing well. Work is going well. I don't offer anything deeper and no one asks. Which I guess is good under the circumstances. It's better to stay unwanted and unprovoked than to maybe have a different opinion. Or, God forbid, I open up to one person in confidence and suddenly everyone in the family knows something. Like that abusive ex, or that week where I got went out and got drunk a bunch of days in a row, or that I was casually seeing someone and then he ghosted me.
Or that I believe in workplace equality. Because, apparently, since I don't work in finance, I can't hold opinions about how businesses should ideally be run.
Everyone's solution is for me to just not engage. But, as it turns out, medically, my mental processing speed isn't fast enough to create clear points that would allow me to get in and out of these discussions. I am berated by my uncles and aunts (no surprise there, I'm not good enough to be a doctor or investment banker or bad enough to be a crack addict, so I don't offer them anything) *and* by my cousins, who I thought would have my back after all the times I've helped them. But they, too, work in business, while I worked 60-100 hour weeks, while in school. But I was just playing with ponies. And they all thought it would be different when I started working in an office. But I'm still the liberal, uncultured, unworthy spawn of their sister/aunt who never went to college (despite being one of the most savvy women I've ever met).
And that's just the family shit.
That doesn't start to cover the men who talk to me on dating apps for weeks, hang once and ghost me. We're at, what, three of the four people I've talked to in 2020? And that's including a pandemic where I wasn't seeing anyone, so only like, two months of actually seeing people.
I know it'll all pass. I'll put in the work, heal, and life will change. The 20s are a weird time.
Aries: Idealistic, optimistic, ambitious, can sometimes be an angry b**** but isn’t a sad b****.
Aries doesn’t hold a grudge. These are people who move forward and typically have a positive mindset.
Small rant.
Look. I have anxiety. I get depressed. I understand that everyone's experiences with mental health struggles are VASTLY different.
But I AM NOT A THERAPIST. I cannot spend my time giving to you from an empty cup. I am drained in my own life, so I cannot keep trying to give to you.
At some point, you have to stand up in your relationship. At some point, you need to see your therapist. At some point, you need to discuss changing your medication if it still makes you feel crazy.
I cannot keep having conversations with you that ALWAYS include the phrase "I'm a wreck today." If you are a wreck every day, you need more than my text conversations while I am at work.
Your children and animals deserve better. You deserve better.
you will not believe the date i just had
I miss this meme
Shout out to my Arabic teacher that looked at us yesterday mid-lesson and said, “I’m worried. You all look exhausted and depressed.”
Of we were all like, “Oh yeah we’re dead inside, you haven’t noticed?”
And he snapped shut the textbook, threw up his hands and said, “That’s not healthy! No more vocab! Time for dancing!”
And he taught us a dance from Iraq and we danced instead of doing vocab. We didn’t stop dancing until he saw all of us laughing and was satisfied that we were all feeling better. It was perhaps the coolest, most kind-hearted thing I’ve ever seen a college instructor do.
Gonna b honest. A lot of hot ppl go to art museums. I’m one of them
im 2 ugly they won’t let me in
that and my shirt that says “i eat oil paintings when security guards aren’t looking”
Listen i understand this is a surreal joke, but like i cant stop imagining qhat would happen if u actually showed up to a major art museum with that shirt. Like not a tiny art museum. What would happen if you showrd up to the Met Museum of Art wearing a shirt that said “i eat oil paintings when security guards arent looking”? They cant just ignore it. But like, are they gonna deny you entry over what is clearly a joke shirt. Do they have u wayched. Its 2 am and i need to
Didn’t you think “I could be in a rom-com right now if I wanted”?
I DID IT. 20 classes in 26 (well, 25) days. Included some days off and some doubles, but I made it, and I can feel a difference. #26DayChallenge #TogetherCuringCancer #kicksomeshit (at ILoveKickboxing) https://www.instagram.com/p/BoT7lvBA9r2/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1twd2vmixjhxg
A story from @littlestequine
So this young girl was having a lesson and you could tell that by 20 minutes in her and the horse were fighting each other more and more. The girl clearly very upset and so was the horse. So her trainer called her in.
Now to be fair on my behalf this arena is very small and everyone can hear everything. I felt a bit bad for listening but I was so happy that I did because I seriously admired how she went about this. Also, I’m trying with my very poor memory to get this word for word, so if it doesn’t sound as good at least ya’ll get the point.
The girl dismounted and went over to her trainer. She began saying how she didn’t think she was good enough for the horse she was riding, that they haven’t been Improving, that no matter how often she rode her they they couldn’t nail it, etc.
The trainer looked at her and said, “So, you’ve been working with her Almost everyday for just under 2 months, and you’ve owned and more importantly have only been riding this mare for only a few weeks longer. I want to tell you the best and most important piece of advice anyone has ever givin me, so just hear me out okay?
"3 months may seem like a long time for you to be trying to get this right, but have you every thought of the horse? And her perspection of time? I was once told that a horse takes at minimum about a year and a half to truly accept a person as their own, to truly and fully start trust Someone. I was about your age when I was first told this and I didn’t want to listen to it because I thought that a year and a half is a insane amount of time to wait to figure out if my horse is going to like me. I remember being mad about it, to be honest I threw a fit and walked out with my horse in hand on that trainer. I was so angry at the time, probably just how you are feeling now. I never went back to her until about a year later. I took my horse home, I rode him every day trying to train harder and more effectively to prove that I could get the horse to do it on my terms. I was the rider, I could make it happen.
"Now I’m not proud of how I was at this age but it’s something I hope everyone can learn from. I worked my horse everyday, and eventually we did get there. I had him doing exactly what I wanted to I was so proud. I did it despite what my old trainer said.
"But as I was getting closer to my riding goals, I seems to be getter further away from my horse. He would no longer let me halter him, he would run, wouldn’t stand tie would paw and act out. The truth was he didn’t want to be around me because all I did with him is make him work, and work hard. He wasn’t enjoying. Then one day he had enough of me and left me In the middle of an eventing feild and didn’t look back, we didn’t find him for three days.
"While he was gone I was so worried about him, I was scared. The moment he got back to the barn I ran to him, but he pulled back and reared up. I wanted to be so close to him but he couldn’t get away faster. I thought we were doing so good for only riding together for 4 months how could the horse not like me!? Can’t he see how great we are together, how awesome we are!? But he didn’t see it that way, to him I was still a stranger, he didn’t know me, all he knew was the work I made him do. I was the only one winning. I sold him a few months later because I was convinced we weren’t bonding anymore. Little did I know, we never started to bond in the first place.
"A few months later I got my new horse. He was everything I ever wanted and I was so excited to win with him. I needed to win.
"My parents thought my attitude was getting worse towards my horse I had no patience. I needed to make everything happen now, and if I couldn’t do it I was awfully upset. So they sent me back to my old trainer.
"The first lesson back with her was simple. I rode and she told me how to, didn’t say much, just taught.
Three lessons later, my new horse threw me. I was trying to make him go over a jump and he was not ready for it so I pushed him until he tossed me. He took off in a big freak out. The horse ran and ran and wouldn’t stop, I was scared I couldn’t catch him.
"My trainer told me to go to the other end of the arena and stay there. I thought my horse was crazy, but as soon as I left he started to settle down. My trainer was able to catch him and she called me over.
"She asked me, ‘what does your horse enjoy?’
"I remember looking at her blankly and saying, 'I mean he likes working and jumping.’
"I remember my trainer looking very displeased with me and my parents running into the arena to make sure I was okay. My parents and my trainer talked for a long time.
"When my parents came back out they said to me that I had 2 weeks to work with my horse with my trainer. If at the end they all thought I wasn’t improving, they were selling him.
“I asked, 'What do I have to do?’
"My trainer looked at me and replied, 'It’s easy, I want you to get your horse to let you halter him. To follow you.’
“ 'He HATES halters!’
“ 'No, he doesn’t like what happens when he’s haltered’
"This made me mad, I screamed, 'Fine! I will.’
"The first day chased him around the pen fot hours, screaming. He wouldn’t come.
"The next day I chased him again. I did this for the next three days.
"On that third day I gave up and sat on the ground crying because I knew I couldn’t do it.
"My parents brought me back the next day and left me there. I didn’t want to do anything with my horse. So I just sat in his pen picking grass. Then, something happened. Very slowly, my horse started to come closer to me.
"Now I sat every day in that pasture waiting until that horse would come to me, and eventually he did. I could halter him, and unhalter him without a fight.
"At the end of those 2 weeks of me just sitting there he would let me come to him.
"Now I bet you’re wondering why I’m telling you this 'pointless’ story of me in my bratty teenage days.
"The point is, if you force the horse she’ll never do what you want her to do, or she’ll do it out of fear. You might be happy but she won’t be. You have to give her something for her to give you something. She has to want to be with you.”
The other day at the mall i saw a 15 year old sitting in a Claire’s piercing booth and it took every fiber in my being to not just grab her and take her to the actual, clean and sanitary and not guaranteed to fuck up your ears tattoo shop literally next door. Like I was frantic. Snakes manifested in my house
Piercing guns almost ALWAYS cause infections
They hurt more because they jam dull jewelry into your ear
Needles from a professional are designed to allow for minimum damage thus less pain.
The people working there literally have no idea what the fuck they’re doing and just guess it with a 1 hour training video vs a professional who trained under a mentor for at least a year and has a passion in the craft
They use bad metal for healings (copper, silver, etc) that can irritate ears. Surgical grade steel should be the only thing in your healing piercings
They put them on way to tight, causing swelling issues. Swelling is normal and piercings should be large enough to allow for that
They give you shit aftercare advice and cleaner (literally just buy saline solution at Spencer’s or hot topic for 8 dollars at the most and don’t touch them at all)
If done on cartilage it can LITERALLY SHATTER YOUR EARS
Please if any young girls in your family want their ears pierced take them to actual professional and don’t trust piercing guns. If a professional says your kid is too young (I.e a fucking baby) then trust their professional judgement. It costs more but you are getting essentially a art piece from a highly trained professional who knows what they’re doing vs a part time min wage employee who had 1 hour training on how to pierce ears.
I literally wrote an entire essay in college why piercing guns should be banned with pictures and my professor told me she was so interested in my topic and had no idea and even googled the topic herself out of curiosity and was horrified on the amount of damage they case
I am a licensed piercing professional and this is all sound and accurate advice. Get your piercings done by a licensed professional at a reputable shop. Not at the mall kiosk that uses piercing guns. Not by your friend who ordered a kit off of Amazon.

I got my ears pierced at Claire’s when I was young and they got horrifically infected. Please don’t use a gun.
