when you're at a point where you're publishing comics with worse, less substantial representation of black characters than you were in the 90s or 2000s, i feel like, and now maybe this is crazy, but i feel like maybe you should at least acknowledge that you have an issue

being a comic fan feels like i'm constantly trying to play catch up. sure I may have read fifty runs but there are twenty more my mutuals are always blogging about that i've never even heard of. sure I can identify most of the members of the justice league from a double page spread but i can't name all of them and certainly not all their powers. as soon as i read another comic run a new one i've never heard of takes my attention before i can conquer the rest of my to-read list and the cycle repeats ad infinitum
No fictional man being sexualized will ever be comparable to the literal centuries of women in fiction being depicted as sex objects btw. Like ever. “But Nightwing–“ DC comics has sexualized fictional women’s corpses, a couple of cheesecake covers where you see Nightwing’s ass does not compare. “But Leon Kennedy–“ real women have been stalked, doxxed, harassed, and sent death and rape threats because fictional video game women weren’t sexy enough for gamers, I don’t care that women had input on how to make the fully clothed Leon Kennedy sexy in RE9 and I don’t care that someone made a nude mod of him.
the lack of reaction about readcomiconline's death is the true indicator of how many people just do not read comics but participate in the comics fandom

it’s getting scary that we have to preface any criticism for oversexualized comic art with “listen I love big breasted naked women as much as men” to even get consideration.
I actually do not like seeing women objectified over and over again in every variant cover seven days out of the week. I like erotic art but does the eroticism speak to the character’s personality and history or is it presented in the one size fits all here’s some ass and titties and a waist as wide as your thumb courtesy of j Scott Campbell WHOA. WHO SAID THAT!
You know when you're reading a comic book from the 90s and it's called some shit like THE NEMESIS CONTRACT PART ONE OF FOUR and you're just like fuck this man and close the tab.
