Glass Frog Au.

Matt is the most recent patient in the crew, he was forcefully admitted by family due to his large fangs and sudden episodes of aggression and blood lust. The Williams family sees Matt as a mistake, a monster. They kept Matt hidden for as long as hey could, but as he grew older it was more and more impossible to keep him controlled.

Matt has a room close to Tord’s, though he brought most of his clothes with him and is seen walking around the lab in casual clothing (Jeans, sneakers, etc.). Matt does have a phone, a long with a laptop, tv, and tablet. He comes from a rich family like Tord, though he is spoiled and still visited by his parents just to be scolded for being such a horror.

Matt is diagnosed with Vampirism, something the researchers have started to call his ‘disease’. Symptoms are large canines (lower and upper teeth), sharper teeth, bright red eyes, pointed ears. Pale skin is not a symptom since Matt is a ginger and is pale due to that.

His relationship with Tord is one of disgust and annoyance, even if he tries to act nice towards him he sees him as competition because they both come from rich families and does know of the Nielsen family. He only hangs around when Tom is around, he enjoys Tom’s company.. he feels like they get each other due to being seen as ‘monsters’ by everyone else.

He knows Edd only tolerates him, he is usually quiet around him. He got Edd mad once due to making a comment about Tord’s condition and calling him a ‘weird zombie kid’, it got both Edd and Matt in trouble (Edd being shocked until he yielded and Matt tranquilized by the bracelet on his left hand).

Like Edd, Matt has a device on his wrist to unload tranquilizers into his blood stream the second he gets violent. Matt has only lost his cool twice, once with Edd, and another time attacking a researcher and almost killing him. He doesn’t remember that episode, just knows he was suddenly hungry and blacked out before waking up in an isolation room to keep an eye on him.

I have redrawn Matt for the Au so many times, bro doesn't look right and I can't wait to just spit him out and forgetting about his design 😮‍💨

He is a spoiled, hateful little fuck in the Au but I love him.

Glass Frog Au.

Tom was born to patients Laura and Frederick Smith (Both deceased) in the ward. He has never been outside of the lab grounds, his only interaction with the outside is the ‘Backyard’ which looks like a large park writhing Lab grounds, always supervised by Nurses and Guards.

Tom is pretty bored with the lab, he doesn’t have a want to escape, doesn’t want to stay either, he just exists in the lab. He does what he’s told, fights what he has to, and lets the lab take all the samples they want. He isn’t violent (surprisingly) and is honestly pretty calm most of the time.

His room has more things than Edd’s room, since he is born in the lab, he actually has a tv and a few books (his parents and him earned them through the years). He spends most days in the room or activity hall, there he does nothing but read and watch people from afar.

Not many people like to be around Tom, he is unsettling and scary to patients due to his large tusk-like teeth and empty eye sockets, not to mention his large spiked tail. He is content with whoever will hang out with him, even if it’s just for a moment.

He actually likes Tord, since Tord is not afraid of him and he loves to talk to people for hours, Tom is happy to listen and watch him. He doesn’t say much, he enjoys to just watch and listen, but he will speak if asked things.

Glass Frog Au.

Edd doesn’t have a disease, he was exposed to radiation since birth. His parents are unknown, he was put into an orphanage and from the orphanage to the lab. He has nobody to put money in his account to buy accommodations, and has just the ‘needed’ things in his room. A bed, a shelf, a closet, and cheap clothing provided by the lab.

Edd has been here since being admitted at age 2 when his scleras started turning green. He has taken to various doctors, none knew what was wrong with him until they took him to the lab. They ‘took him in’ free of charge, so far only researching and using him for various experiments.

Edd is the most bitter, cold, and aggressive of the crew, he hates the doctors, hates the lab, and wishes he could escape. Due to his violent tendencies he is forced to wear a shock collar, if he gets out of bounds or starts to get aggressive with a patient or Doctor/researcher, he will be shocked.

He is considerably calm and nice to Tord, which is weird since he is known to hate every other patient in the ward (Tolerates Tom and Matt).

Edd met Tord one day he was allowed outside to the ‘backyard’ he saw him playing on the grass in the shade of the trees, he stared at him for hours, he did this for a few days until Tord came up to him and started talking to him like he knew him and had been friends for years. Edd went along with it.

Edd met Tom in one of the experiment sites, they both were forced to use their ‘powers’ on machines. Both ended up in the medical ward, giving them time to talk and complain about the lab.

Glass Frog Au.

Tord is one of the only people with a very strange and interesting condition. The condition was named glass frog disease. Tord was admitted into a hospital/lab for people with severe or strange conditions, mostly due to their families having money and funding the project.

Tord has been here since he was around five years old, he no longer remembers his family, all he knows is that they are famous actors, writers, and musicians that he often sees on his tv. He finds it hard to believe these people who are looked up upon would leave him here, to be ‘cured’ or to die. Whatever came first.

Glass Frog Disease, as far as the doctors and researchers know, is a strange disease that turns the skin on the abdomen translucent, making internal organs visible. The disease also affects vitamin intake and nutrient production in the body, rendering the person with the disease weak and unable to interact with things or others due to their compromised immune system. Their skin takes a pale look, their under eyes slightly dark like permanent eye bags along with sunken cheeks. The area around their eyes, ears, and joints are usually pink-ish in color as if flushed. Their hair is extremely light, brown turning to a dull, light color, blonde turning almost white, and hazel/light brown hair turning dull and almost dusty in color. Eyes follow the same rule, whatever colored iris, will turn pale with time.

Tord regularly asks for things, these are known as patient accommodations. He has asked for simple things like books, graphic novels, sketchbooks, and art supplies (markers, crayons, color pencils, etc.) along with more expensive things like a tablet, Tv, and even a gaming console. Of course, it’s all funded by his parents who don’t even try to visit or stay in touch, hoping material things will keep Tord occupied.
