As funny as the joke is, “Toxic” by Britney Spears probably would not be regarded centuries hence in the same way that classical music is regarded today. Any future society that would be recognisable to us will probably retain the distinction between popular music and high-falutin’ concert hall fare, and would understand that “Toxic” much more closely resembles the former than it does the latter.

On the other hand, it’s totally plausible that finer distinctions would be lost over time. In particular, the line between pop music and folk music tends to blur very quickly, so it’s conceivable that future societies might understand “Toxic” as an early 21st Century folk song.
