I can't believe I am about to read out a tribute to my darling father. I could actually talk about him all day because of how amazing he was. Ajibola Ganiyu Akanni Finnih was an extraordinary man. If people that know my sisters and me were unaware of the relationship we had with our father, then I don't think they really knew us. He was our hero, our rock, our knight in shining armor, our shining star and an icon. We are extremely lucky to have had a man like you as our father. Even our friends felt your love. You were such a beautiful man who was also witty, charming, kind, generous, intelligent, elegant, loyal and sporty. You had a wicked sense of humor, integrity, unwavering principles and a fascinating approach to life. It may seem as though you were a perfect man but perfection is of the Lord's. You were not without your flaws. You were so stubborn, gosh. We agreed to disagree on some subjects, so I guess we could not have it all.
There was almost nothing we could not talk about. You loved and respected us. Your presence in our lives made life more colourful and vibrant. You were one of kind. You actually lived and we are glad. We hope to be half the human you were.
You protected us from a lot and now, we feel exposed but as you are no longer here physically, I pray you continue to watch over us.
We hope to find comfort in the numerous memories we all shared and the massive love you showered us with. You will be immensely missed, my beloved Jiblo, Mr daddy, AG Senior, our maths guru, our very own Michael Phelps...May Almighty Allah grant you Aljannah Firdaus and forgive your shortcomings. Till we meet to part no more.
