When You Can't Remember the Medical Term
And then end up writing records with sentences such as “per owner, stomach makes those weird grumbly noises” and “the eye is like popping out of his face” and “really really really bad dandruff”
Always a threat when having to write about eyes or skin… though I did remember “blepharedema” today, go me!
As a bilingual it gets even harder to remember.
We have bills to pay, food to buy, family to support. We are people too!

OMG I don't know how long it has been since my last log in, and I don't know how old this question is. Sorry amazing anonymous person! I really hope you are loving college, enjoy it! When you less expected it will be over :'( To answer your questions: my dad is a Veterinary Doctor. He used to take me to school when I was a toddler and I remember enjoying it. When I was four years old he graduated and started his own clinic, while doing his graduate studies and working in the K-9 police force. So as you can guess I was exposed to the animal world since the day I was born. When I was ten, my dad stopped practicing, it was a really sad day for me. Still I wanted to be around animals. In my Senior year of high school I started to doubt my decision, "maybe I should look around" and I did. Business, photography, culinary school, graphic design. At the time I used to work at an animal hospital. Going to work after school always made me happy; those animals so happy to see me, licking my face when I used to played with them. I made my decision.While in College of course I had my doubts; I was a country away from my parents, my brother and my pets. I had family problems, and I forgot why I made the decision of studying something related to sciences if I knew it was my weakest subject. At mid career I used to cry and I remember so many times telling my mom I was going to quit, it was a really hard year for me. My mom used to tell me that I had already accomplish so much; if I had endured two and a half years already, I could last another two and a half years. So I kept going and when I least expected, it was finally time to practice.I loved it! You feel such a rush, you are helping someone! At first you think that won't do a good job, then the owners start taking those beautiful creatures to their appointments and you see the results. You see the tails moving, you stop seeing pain in their eyes, they are walking, barking, you even get happy when they poop. Yes, there are times when your heart breaks, but you have the abilities and the knowledge to help out. Believe me, the reward is worth it! (Sorry for the mistakes, English is my second language.)
Goodbye Surgery!!!
Once I posted that the thing I liked the less was surgery. Well now I love it! I didn't want to do all this surgery phase at the University clinic, and this past Friday I didn't want it to end. I didn't want to say goodbye, to the old and new guys. I had an awesome time:
Preparing
Taking care of the material
Learning everything I could about X-Rays
Taking care of the Surgical Instruments (I always stressed out about getting all the things needed for surgery, and being able to be instrumentalist or anesthetist calmed me down)
Being able to help out in a surgery, made me a little insecure because I have a Essential tremor. At first the doctors taught I was nervous, but with time they accepted my condition.

Clinic is calling us, tomorrow will be our first day of no sitting. no eating, and no getting off the clinic before 8:30. I already miss Surgery.

When my dad told me, I couldn't believe it. Dr. Wright was doing amazingly a few months ago, how can this be possible? An amazing Veterinarian has been lost. R.I.P. Doctor Wright

Anatomy Drawing School Animal
The tittle says it all, this is a drawing book. A really handy drawing book! Which I like to use as reference. It is not an official anatomy book, but it saves me when I'm at the clinic. The reason of my love being shown to this particular title, is because the drawings are very detailed. Bones and muscles are shown, and to top it, it gives you the name of almost all of them. You can write the names of all the other bones/muscles with a pencil.
It shows you the anatomy of five different species.

The Cat
The Pig
The Cow
It weights around 500 grams. I can carry the book, easily, all over the city! From Monday to Saturday I'm in surgery at the clinic. There are times when I see an orthopedic surgery schedule. I just take out my book from my purse, and look up the bones involved in the surgery (it's been five years since my last anatomy class, I don't remember every muscle and bone.)
Finally, it's not an expensive book. $14.99 dollars, $11.99 at amazon plus delivery. I bought it at a B&N, a lucky find I must say, they don't have that many Vet Anatomy books at stock, the ones related are for pet owners, so I almost cry when I saw this one on the shelf.

A lady found this girl on the street and decided to find her a home and asked us the price of the OVH. The clinic decided to perform the surgery for free if she brought the material. One problem though, the bitch was pregnant. It broke everyone's heart when the lady made her final decision. "I don't have the money to raise her puppies, and I'm sure you guys can't support them either. Almost all of you, do this for free." The OVH lasted around 20 minutes, the bitch, she went to her foster home just fine.
People who can take the day off on August 10, and participate in this amazing cause! Which is to collect money for the Valley Fever Americas Foundation. I can't go because I don't have vacations and it is this difficult for me to travel 4,000 miles in one day with no money at all, but if you can it will make me many, many people happy! (including this girl)

It's been so long since the last time I updated.
I'm finally done with all the courses to become a Veterinarian! Yay!!! I can't believe I'm almost there.
So for the last semester I have to do Veterinary Practices (that's how we call them here in Mexico) which are worth 30 obligatory credits. Kind of an Internship for six months at any place, vet related, and I've already started.
It was really hard to decide what place to do them. Ever since I started vet school, my goal was to do them at a Small Animal Vet Hospital in AZ; at my sixth semester I considered a Horse Hospital in the U.K.; a month ago I was offered to do them at a Dairy Farm in Aguascalientes. At the last minute I wanted Canada, but I started to question myself "What is the thing that you like the less in this career?"
Surgery! I'm scare of surgeries, and where I'm going to start loving surgeries? At the school vet clinic.
They have a program for us students; three months at the clinic and three months in surgery. I applied, got accepted, and for my first three months I'm in surgery. Now I have to practice my stitches, read a lot, and have confidence in myself, if I want the opportunity of performing surgeries. Meanwhile we are Instrumentalists and anesthesiologists.
The secon semester of 2013 will be a good one!
