Breath, little one
Around 5 yesterday we got a text from K, an emergency c-section was happening right when she would ordinarily have left the office. When she got home, about an hour later than normal, she was very happy. Showed me a picture of five tiny kittens, three orange and two dark. She was given a limp, orange, cyanotic* kit and worked for half an hour rubbing, warming, trying to get its breathing and heart stabilized. She succeeded. Her first hand-on experience with saving a life.

Fortunately the xylazine was effective, and he vomited the leaf bit, so now it's just IV fluids and monitoring for the next couple days.
Lilies are extremely toxic to cats (even licking the pollen off their fur can be fatal!) so if your cat is exposed, it's a true medical emergency, and they need to get vet care immediately. If you wait until signs of poisoning develop, it's too late.
I'm afraid I have trauma from college but if I had infinite money I would just keep getting degrees and certifications in anything interesting to me lol

Vet med is so silly because sometimes I’m helping save the lives of beloved family pets, and sometimes I’m being SCREAMED at by an adult over the phone because our only doctor is on a brief vacation and the client just decided to refill their dog’s meds (controlled substance, of course) now that they are NEARLY OUT OF THEM, and I have to tell them in a shaky voice on the verge of tears that I am so sorry, but they will have to visit another clinic for that refill, as I cannot legally give them that controlled substance without a doctor present, and even if I was willing to break the law and risk my job, the meds are in a locked safe only the doctor can open, and again I am so sorry, please stop yelling at me, please, I literally cannot do anything about this situation.
And then sometimes I get to hold puppies and kittens.
