Dear young black girl,

Never let them make you think you're ugly. Not the media, not your peers, not even your own family. Take it from someone who grew up around almost exclusively white people and consumed almost exclusively white media, and believed she was ugly because she was darker, or her features were more prominent, or her hair was 'nappy.' I wished to be blonde-haired, blue-eyed, and pale.

When I switched to a more diverse school, everything changed, and I saw through the BS white society had put me through.

Black is beautiful! Don't let society manipulate u into thinking otherwise! Don't give them what they want!
