ok sorry if this is evil and rude but i think re-nightmare mystery being unironically called 'mystery' by people is kind of hard for me to get around. like. i don't know about you guys but this dude would take generic white dude names like 'jason' or 'todd' to disguise his actual identity when applying to jobs and working in the clinic so people don't find the name 'mystery' strange/suspicious.
people who don't personally know/see him every day wouldn't outright call him 'mystery' but refer to his name and/or identity in general, 'a mystery'. as for alfred and kao idk he just told them "call me mystery when we talk to each other but don;t do that outside of our conversations ok. or i'll kill you" (does this make sense already)
not only that, he could be on a bunch of killing sprees and nobody could figure who's behind them. i seriously think he would attempt to maintain his identity as mysterious yet consistent as possible (outside of murdering others) because of trauma inflicted by arthur, implying he may or may not have a perfectionist mindset. hiding can be rather comforting for him
i love writing out numbers and then putting them in parentheses like "one (1)" even when i dont need to i think its funny
