She grinned, plucking a grape from the tray and tossing it past her lips. “A psychic, hmm? Are you going to tell me my future, then?” Austen couldn’t resist. It was nothing for to blow a hundred bucks on a reading, but only if the atmosphere felt right. Everyone she knew, well, used to know, would berate her for wasting her money on something so silly, but they never could get her to stop. Her eyes scanned his face as she chewed, wondering what he’d do if she kissed him. She didn’t want to ask permission to thank him, it seemed a bit redundant, and then she remembered him telling her to be honest with him the night before. So she leaned forward on her knees, placed her hands on either side of his hips and pressed her lips to his. It was brief, hardly lasting a second, then she was giving him another smile. “You wouldn’t dare wake me up to this delicious smell then eat all of them,” she said, sitting back down, even closer now, and reaching for some silverware. “But, if you keep being this sweet, I’m thinking I won’t mind sharing.”
“Now where would be fun in that, Austen?” he asked her curiously before dipping a strawberry into nutella and taking a bite. “Future should be mysterious, exciting. If I told you all that awaits you, there would be no surprises and things to be looking forward to. He was finishing chewing when he felt her hands on his hips, head turning more to her direction before her lips connected for a brief kiss with his. It would be an understatement to say he was surprised, but he didn’t pull away. His smile mirrored hers before he laughed lightly, “Oh you don’t know me well then. I can eat a lot, and I’ve been into a lot of cruel siblings fights over food. We used to eat each other’s food on purpose.” Food fights were better than any other ones. Those would actually get them to make up eventually and make them all laugh. “You wouldn’t mind sharing the breakfast I made? How generous of you, my lady.”
