We aim to uplift the unique voices and stories of our participants, and we encourage anyone who enjoys works from this event to share in the celebration of Chinese culture from creators of Chinese heritage.

MXTX Diaspora May 2026 Prompts

Our prompts this year are the Four Natures（四气）in Traditional Chinese Medicine. These are commonly applied to food or herbs, and are often consumed to balance bodily heat or coldness. Warm and hot foods typically help increase body heat and improve circulation, while cool and cold foods typically help to calm inflammation and reduce swelling. There is a fifth nature, a neutral category, for foods that are neither heaty nor cooling but somewhere in between.
