Was your family supportive of you throughout your acne journey?
Once I started accutane they were. It took a long time for them to take me seriously though. They didn’t see my acne as a problem and believed I just wasn’t being clean. In the end they helped me get treatment though.
Hey! So I started accutane 20 days ago. My skin has improved a whole lot, which I'm really happy about! I wondered when your blackheads started to disappear? I have like 30 small blackheads ONLY on my nose. Nowhere else on my skin to be seen (which is really nice) but when do they disappear? I'm kinda worried they wouldn't go away
Honestly the blackheads on my nose are still there now. They did go away at the end of my treatment but once I had been off of accutane a while they came back. They’re not nearly as bad as they were before though and I’m not totally sure what to do about them.
How often do you get spots after accutane? And like how many at a time? Like even tiny ones that you can't really see
I usually have a spot on my face. Not necessarily because I keep breaking out but because when I do have a spot it’ll take a while to go away. It’s usually just a small red bump that never comes to the surface and it’s usually on my left cheek.

Hey! I'm really enjoying your blog, not just bc of ur success w/t accutane but u also seem to have a really cool and funny personality. Anyways, you seemed to miss the initial breakout everyone fears, why do you think that is?
Thank you so much! I did have a bit of an initial breakout but it wasn’t super noticeable. My breakout was more subtle with a ton of oil suddenly coming up and lots of little bumps. I think it wasn’t as bad because I took spironolactone (I think that’s how it’s spelt) for quite a bit beforehand. That really kept my skin under bay until I began accutane.

hey so I'm on my second month of accutane and my skin is super dry but it looks actually really clear i went to my dermatologist and she said that i can't end taking accutane now and she didn't really explain why so I'm confused because my skin looks almost healthy and I'm really tired of taking accutane every day should i end taking accutane?
I wouldn't recommend ending it. Accutane may have cleared your skin but if you end now it could revert to how it used to be. It's best to do the full course.
Hey all! Just wanted to give a skin update really quick! I'm using tretinoin on my skin currently, so my scars are more present than usual. I'm also on spirolactone as I've had a few breakouts coming back around my mouth and random spots on my cheeks or forehead. The top pictures were taken with a camera in natural light, a lot of my spots and marks don't show up in that lighting. The lower pictures were taken on my phone indoors in natural light and they show a lot more. I hope everyone's having a lovely day :) Side note: I'm writing a book! I'm including the wonderful experience I've had from this account too 💜
i'd like to start wearing makeup to cover up my scars and blemishes, but i'm really scared to because i'm so worried that my acne will come back :(( do you have any tips? like what types of makeup to use?
It shouldn't come back if you remove it properly and find makeup that works for you! Right now I use a foundation serum from elf! You can still see some of my scars through it though. I like that it feels as if I'm wearing nothing though :)
my doctor has me take minocycline, do you know if that works?
It worked very well for me, I took it before I started accutane and it cleared a lot of my surface blemishes
Your skin looks so good, ugh I wish mine would look like that. I was wondering if you ever took birth control for your acne? I'm trying Ortho tri cyclen, originally I would only get breakouts on the chin area but now I'm on the 2nd month and my cheeks are sooo bad. I've never broken out on my cheeks and I don't know what to do.
I never took birth control, I didn't like the idea of messing with my hormones at the time. I also wanted a more permanent result :)
Do they check for weed whenever they do blood tests?

I was told I can't be put on accutan because my history with depression or being really sad and honestly it sucks my skin is such a major hold up on my way to self love I honestly hate my skin so much and it hurts to see and hear people talk about make up and beautiful skin when I can't wear/look like them
For me a lot of my sadness was caused by my skin. I think it depends case by case. I completely understand feeling upset about makeup and anything to do with skin really. I still get extremely down about my skin sometimes, but it's so much better than before. During my depression cycle a lot of my focus goes to things I don't like about myself. When my skin got better I had one less thing to fixate on. For me it was really worth it.
Do you still experience bad breakouts after accutane?

Awh thank you!!! I'm seventeen! My scarring is fading with time as of now, but I'm definitely pursuing some stuff to treat it when I hit the one year mark off of accutane 💜
