If the MCU reveals that Spider-Man was a mutant this entire time I will literally scream.

Like we're never shown Peter getting his powers and obviously Uncle Ben never says with great power comes great responsibility line - Aunt May does. So instead what if Peter goes on a field trip which features an exhibit of radiated mutated spiders and he goes home to tell his Uncle who shares his love for science only to find him dead in a bulgary gone wrong. He's devastated and during the funeral he feels sick to his stomach (if only he went straight home instead of hanging out with Ned). After the funeral he literally gets sick feels feverish and grief stricken he sleeps a whole day through and when he wakes he's the one and only amazing Spider-Man. Now he doesn't really think about it I mean none of his powers really has a theme maybe he ingested some radiated water idk it's New York - he's just a little bit extraordinary now. But he remembers the spiders and thinks that pretty neat and invents web fluid. And he really doesn't worry about it - it's small potatoes compared to everything else. He doesn't even think about how his powers even work till he randomly form a second mutation a decade later.

TLDR: MCU Peter is a mutant. His trigger was Uncle Ben's funeral/death. His powers in Brand New Day is his secondary mutation.
