Reality shifting is a dangerous trend and even more dangerous as a group of supporters.
As someone who understands escapism and has to deal with maladaptive daydreaming and suffers with psychosis, I entirely understand why some people would want to try to escape their reality, especially as it is common with those who are younger, which is unfortunately also one of the most traumatized and mentally ill groups.
Yet whenever people point out how it's "backed by science" or "backed by the CIA" especially with the latter, it shows that most people haven't genuinely looked at that document, as it's half baked and shows nothing of what shifters have claimed.
The followers themselves are also concerning, as many times if people are very dissociated or seeing hallucinations, they're met with positivity and the fact that it "just means that they're close to shifting!" Especially when many of the states associated with shifting are concerningly close to symptoms of mental illnesses, especially those with psychosis as a symptom. And while the claim of being backed by science is often stated, looking into the subject, it's almost always the opposite, saying that it could heighten one's risk of a mental disorder. Especially when "shifters" claims and guides are more akin to lucid dreaming rather than anything else.
Civil discussion only. Overt hate or hostility will be met with a block. If you would rather discuss directly to me, my dms are open, and I agree to also be as civil as possible /g
