I think we all admire this smol scene in ep. 3 so much because it‘s the first time we see Bucky truly taking care of himself, of his body. He‘s treating a part of himself that he probably despised with ownership and love by properly cleaning it after this mission. We haven‘t seen many scenes where Bucky is truly doing regular/domestic things, we‘ve only really seem him fight and struggle so far in the MCU. This tiny moment is filling a hole we didn‘t know was there in all of our hearts.

being black in america is watching tfatws and watching the cops roll up on sam wilson and wondering if he’s going to get shot because in real life, he would have had several bullets pumped in him for “raising his voice” and “intimidating the officers”.

being black in america is watching isaiah and immediately thinking of the tuskegee experiments.

being black in america is watching the white man get the shield and praised with an all black band and dance team at a predominantly black school and watching the best friend being a darker skinned black man and the love interest being a light skinned black woman.

being black in america is wanting to have fun watching tfatws but being reminded of how ugly your country really is when it comes to race.

i’m happy about the show talking about all this, but i’m gutted. i wanted to have fun and chill. not be reminded every other scene how fucked up white people are to people with my darker skin. :(

yes to all of this

the sambucky is good, and the buddy comedy is good, and also, because we are complex consumers, the confronting in media of racism in the US is good. gutting but i’m glad it’s there.

ALL I WANT from any media is the externalization of the internal for a character. that’s all good writing is.

to stick the landing i really need for the writers to have sam REACT to the external racism and how it parallels and exacerbates sam’s internal insecurities

i’m not looking for a righteous indictment or damning monologue or even a call out of privilege tbh. i’m looking for sam to simply say “this hurts.” “i am hurt.” Like “you buck had to deal with hydra brainwashing and i sam have to deal with *all of this* by just existing in this country.”
