Happy Pride!
Every pride, you must reblog this. No exceptions
I love that four different people on my feed scheduled this joyous person to reblog by 8am on June 1. I look forward to seeing this a dozen more times today.
The other night husband and I were watching a documentary about the yeti where they were doing DNA analysis of samples of supposed yeti fur, and every one of them came back as bears.
Anyway, the next night we watched a thing about some pig man who is supposed to live in Vermont. People said it had claws and a pig nose but walked upright like a man. Now, I happen to know that sideshows used to shave bears and present them as pig men. So every piece of evidence they gave of this monster sounds to me like a bear with mange.
So now the running joke in our house is that everything is bears. Aliens? Bears. Loch Ness monster? Bear. Every cryptozoological mystery is just a very crafty bear.
Bears. They’re everywhere. Be wary. Anyone or anything could be a bear.
oh shit
As the OP of this post, I’m going to threaten that if this gets to one million notes by the 10 year anniversary on 1 June 2026, one year from today, I will get a lower back tattoo of the loch ness bear monster.
At time of posting, this is at 711.6k notes

We’re almost 258,000 notes short of the Committment To The Bit Tumblr Curse goal, or what I am choosing to call:

Nathan Lane as Albert Goldman THE BIRDCAGE
Do not doubt my power
[thank you @greggslife for knowing me, knowing I would know this, and for also recognising it]
The only acceptable casting for a remake of “The Birdcage”
According to choreographer Vince Paterson, Robin Williams pulled him aside as they were shooting this scene and said he was tired of playing "the straight man," and wanted something funnier to do. Paterson pitched the bit as The History of Dance in Thirty Seconds, and taught it to him behind the walls of the set. After seeing it for the first time, director Mike Nichols said the sequence was wonderful but unnecessary. Williams fell to his knees and begged Nichols to shoot it again properly. According to a biography of Nichols, when they were unsure how the bit should end, it was Nathan Lane who came up with the punchline: "But you keep it all inside." Remembering the scene nearly twenty years later, Paterson said, "We never thought it would become what it has. It’s iconic."

reminder that legally blonde (2001) and the birdcage (1996) will be back in theaters may 24th and june 27th, respectively. these movies are not what this blog considers proper vintage but I do consider them lots of fun, and it would be nice in particular for the birdcage to get a good turnout in a time where anti-gay sentiment is on the rise (at least in the US, where I am based).
just boosting.

-puts THE BIRDCAGE IN THEATERS in calendar IMMEDIATELY-
also remember to check your local theater’s listings. some theaters may show it on different days or do extended showings; my dates are just (the first) ones listed on the Fathom website. check your local theater for specifics
Watching Strange New World S02 Ep05 and I‘m soo confused. Cause Spock has been turned human and he suddenly starts having these extreme mood swings, but that doesn’t make sense to me.
Control over one’s emotions isn’t a Vulcan gene thing. Vulcans feel emotions a lot stronger than humans do and through Suraks teachings they found a way to control them, humans can also learn that, as shown with Michal she just decided against practicing it further.
So with Spock turning human he still has his memories and capabilities, which in my head would include the way he was raised. He also should feel his emotions not quite as strong as usually. I get that he’s shocked but that still wouldn’t explain such extreme behavioral differences.
I’m probably missing something but I don’t know what. Could someone please explain it to me?
I love the midwest so much
