If we get extended here (good vibes really appreciated 💕), we are swapping out the stove top and the oven. The oven is old and it is not accurate. The temperatures have worn off the oven and the only one still on there is 200C. I always gotta pop the thermometer in there.. even 200 is not 200. we also can’t use the convection part because gluten.

The stove top.. it’s a gas range but there is only ONE strong.. omg the word is escaping me.. not pilot.. one firethingy!! There are 4. They are in the shape of a diamond instead of a square and there is one large, one medium, and two tiny.. with the tiny ones being in the middle of the stove (the tops and bottoms of diamonds)… much smaller than they would be in regular stoves. The medium one will not boil much. I fucking left the medium one on by accident last night on “low” for like an hour and it didn’t burn the veggies that were in a pan in there..

Another thing about the oven is that there are racks that slide in and out and they are awful. Sometimes the middle one gets stuck in the out position… But the landlord is like “we don’t cover that” 🤬🤬 I don’t even know what kind of grease we can use. So yeah.. we couldn’t even get a used one because again.. gluten.

This house isn’t that old.. (compared to houses I’ve lived in before from the early 1900s) but I don’t want to live in an old house again after this.

I did for a run/walk interval workout yesterday… I haven’t run since like April last year? I don’t remember. So I wake up early then my husband’s alarm went off and it was super loud so I didn’t try to go back to sleep. I went to get up to go to the bathroom, I told to my husband how sore I am and that it’s supposed to be lower body day today (strength training). After I came back from the bathroom, Maya got up on the bed (she had left us), he said to her “your client wants to back out of your session today!”

I was like “uh I never said that.. I was thinking of doing upper body instead!” He’s such a little punk ass!!

Meanwhile, she’s been leading him to the home gym in the morning and he hasn’t taken the bait 🤣 I told him she needs more income.

My personal trainer has been so clingy today..

She was in the home gym when I went in.. she stuck it out for about 5 mins into my workout. (Here she’s rubbing her face on the dumbbell)

She has been clingy everywhere else too.. bedroom and the craft room. I don’t get this much attention from her anymore. She’s sat on my lap a few times.. I asked her “who’s dying me or you?” 😅

She’s currently sitting on the notebook I was doing my brain dump on. I don’t think she wants me listening to an audio book either. The audacity!!

On Saturday morning, I was brushing my teeth and our bathroom has a window which looks out to the front of the house (our bedroom looks out the back). Something had caught my eye.. It turned out to be a hornet nest on a building diagonally across the street! Our friend lives on the top floor of that building and it's below one of her windows. I think that was added on floor was added on afterwards because there's a bit of a lip above the 4th floor and her apartment. Of course I forgot to tell her until the afternoon (thanks ADHD). She said she'd had hornets in her apartment and didn't know where they were coming from so she had closed the window and her cats were trying to get them!!

She called the landlord to take care of it and as of about 2pm today, it's still there (not that they would've come out this fast) and there's so many of them. I'm working on my craft room which is a floor below our bathroom so it's easy to see them. I hope the nest is gone soon.. it looks a bit bigger than Saturday.

Conditions I didn't even know existed and sound like dark curses but I will see a post from friend like "died about 60% today, fine now. Made egg on toast #yummytoast". There are so many people in this world with life experiences

My personal trainer said saturdays are for sleeping in.

She did come down to check on me (but really scratch the blue mats) and then went to the bathroom to check out the crows (taken from the hallway) and then later, she was looking in my direction. I have to look out the doorway.. you can’t see the bathroom from where I was working out.

And yes.. the cats are always lying on bath mats.

We went to a Mexican place downtown today.. I’d been there before with my mom and I had asked whether they had gluten-free options. The woman who is the co-owner told me she wasn’t sure about the broth the meats are cooked in but that the corn tortillas are gluten free. She told me that they could do tacos with beans or avocados. My husband doesn’t like either (I know!!)

So my husband had seen this on their site which had been added.

So we went today as nothing had been noted on the menu itself. It was the same woman, I asked what the options were and she said she wasn’t sure what the broth ingredients were. She gave me the broth powder and it said it may contain gluten. So none of the meats for sure.. she said the things safe were rajas (peppers) with crema, quesadillas with mushrooms, beans, and avocados. My husband also isn’t a fan of mushrooms. So we left.

We went to a brunch place.. they have different locations and had a couple of options.

On the way home, we were at the tram stop and I got a sad vibe from him which made me sad.. he usually doesn’t have emotions that you can feel. Anyway.. I started tearing up while I was holding his hand. This guy walked by and was looking me in the eye.. he went by twice. I think he was trying to see if I was okay. We were only there for a couple of mins before the tram came except we grabbed seats where my husband and I were facing each other and then he saw my face and became concerned. Of course that made me fully cry.. I was like “I’m not mad at you” and trying to smile. He looked so worried which made me cry even more… plus people were looking at me. I could finally tell him “I just wish I could take away your celiac.” He tried to comfort me but we were apart. We talked about it some more once I was done crying. I hate that I can’t control my tears better.

Speaking of my ID. My husband got an email yesterday that we need to have our marriage certificate translated to French (in an official capacity) in order for us to be able to register with the commune. I don’t know why we weren’t told us months ago.. the woman landlord is a translator and she could’ve done this for us but now they’re in France because the husband’s dad is in hospice and she won’t be back until September (he doesn’t know when he’ll be back). So now we have to find someone else to do it. They’re just always trying to get money out of you here. They’re even charge 1€ for a packet of ketchup at McDonald’s!!!

Yesterday, I had left my ID up here in the bedroom and I came up to grab it before I went to get my Adderall refilled… my little personal trainer was waiting for me just inside the home gym standing there judging me for not having worked out. I told her I’d work out later which she knew was a lie and just watched me as I walked away.

I was going to get rid of this leather bag I have because I don’t like how it folds in at the zipper.. I don’t think it’s supposed to. I had put it in a box with other stuff then pulled it out and left it on the floor while looking for something. A certain cat called dibs so I thought I would put it on the bed to see if she wanted it as a bed between our pillows. She fucking loves that thing and she does not like us moving it—she even shot my husband dirty looks for moving it. She doesn’t give my husband dirty looks.

Omg my husband just rolled over and put his hand on the bag.. it woke her up but I think this is even better for her because her little head is on a couple of his fingers.

We decided to go ahead with the Ninja Creami after giving it some more thought. The way I put it is that it’s more for my husband than me because he can’t have regular Oreo ice cream.. 🤣🤣 we have to buy gluten free Oreos, so yeah, he needs this 🤣🤣 in all seriousness though, he really is restricted in the ice cream we buy. The Tillamook strawberry ice cream I love is made on the same production line as stuff with gluten so it’s cross contaminated so all their products are out.

I can’t believe it’s been one year since he was diagnosed with celiac. It feels way longer to be honest, all the changes we’ve had to make, all the research, avoiding places, being super picky with our travel, going to the same okay restaurants (over and over)… I feel so bad for him. I wish they had more options here as they do in London. The difference is astounding. I know Brussels is much smaller but even the difference between here and KAISERSLAUTERN is nuts. We should make a plan to go shopping across the border. I’m not wishing for more options at the moment* I am just hoping we can find a store nearby that has more.

*my wishes have to be super specific or they come true in a fucked up way.. I really do want to stay here for 3 more years not just one and have to go back to the US. The US has better options than here, especially Austin.. but I’d like to delay that as much as possible.

Anyway, I love the non-heat wave days here but I am looking forward to baking more in the fall/winter and experimenting with gluten free recipes.
