Chairman Mao's 4 Minute Fitness Routine is worth another look because PERSONAL physical fitness has become one of THE talking points of today's society.
MAO 4 is a re-imagining of the famous (for a time) ‘Chairman Mao’s’ 4-Minute Exercise Plan. A great warm-up routine, this series of exercises found its way into drama classes across the WORLD
The plan’s aims were simple:
Be a simple ‘system’ of exercise that is suitable for people of any age and gender. Exercise all of the major muscle groups. Not be too strenuous. Can be performed standing up. Require no equipment. Only take four minutes. Be relaxing and enjoyable, and not leave you tired. Increase flexibility and general muscle tone.
And it covers:
 Arms, Legs, The Body (trunk), Balance, Flexibility, and stimulates blood flow!
One of the exercises is called 'Punching the World' and some days, punching the world feels mighty good!
Small Space Daily Exercises: Ashore and Afloat is a title that combines the origin of this routine, and its future! If you don’t want a ‘fancy’ workout, or if you don’t have a lot of space, or if you simply don’t like getting down on the floor, then these exercises could be the ones for you.
I consider these exercises to be better than those in the 5BX program, as they offer greater variety and they're safer!

Today I decided to be my own fitness model - despite being WOEFULLY ill-equipped for the job. But, having fitness models perform exercise routines is part of the problem with the industry today, namely the creation of unrealistic expectations.Â
I am in fact a pretty fit guy for 41 years of age. My neck, shoulders, hips and knees are in perfect shape, and apart from a touch of middle-age spread, I’m pretty happy with where I am in life.Â
So this is actually an HONEST video - I do those exercises every day and they make me feel better. Shouldn’t we actually have MORE fitness videos like that?Â
