Today is an anniversary.

Three years ago today, the 11th of August, I made my first berry sim called Sunnie Rudolph and her story snowballed into the Rudolph Legacy.

It’s been a whole year since I posted a proper Rudolph update and I’ve grown a lot as since. Even though I have more space to grow, I’ve come leaps and bounds in my understanding of what’s important when it comes to keeping creativity alive and healthy.

As much as I want to pump out golden content every day, I need to be realistic and take my health, my life, my work and my happiness into care and consideration, just as much as I do of other people’s. I need to not force myself into writing/posting more than I can or want to and I need to make sure that when I write, I’m in a good space so that I don’t wast my, or anyone else’s, time on a half arsed post. Why half arse it when you can whole arse it?

All this serious sounding mumbo-jumbo out the way, I’m posting this here, on the Rudolph’s own simblr, to say that a reboot in in the works! I hoped to start today, as it’s the anniversary, but work, health and life in general has halted my plans. But you know what? That’s okay. It’s good that I’ve identified it and stopped to take the time to make sure I’m okay before I even think about posting.

So, with all that said, watch this space for updates and Rudolph posts coming soon!

As much as I adore having a creative mind and racing imagination, I really get annoyed that I can’t work on more than one creative thing at once. I have this problem a lot when it comes to writing and now can’t focus my free time onto any one of the four stories I want to work on.

At the moment, I’m torn between My Curious Diary, Broken World, Hidden Colours, An RP blog run by Ophelia Marquette and a possible reboot of the Rudolph Legacy.

I love all of these characters/stories and have a lot of ideas that I want to do for each and every one of them, but with the new, exciting and finally optimistic changes in work I’ve got coming up, I’ll only have time to really focus on one of these things and, like a parent being asked to pick their favorite, I can’t choose.

So, this is where you wonderful lot come in! Leave a comment/reply of what one you’d like to see my focus on and, fingers crossed, once I’m settled into my new shifts, I can hopefully  make some sort of schedule for all or most of them.

The Legacy Tag

I was tagged by the wonderful @morgibritt​ and the lovely @romeo-and-simulet for this one!

I want to answer these for the Curious family, but as I haven’t got too far with them yet I think I’ll use my previous legacy back on Simblroonies, The Rudolphs! Kinda want to reboot them soon but I don’t knoooowww.. Motivation, time and other things I don’t have :/

Favorite Heir(s): Oh man, can I say all of them? Probably not. Moo definitely has a very special place in my heart, I just love her to bits! And we all know that Iri will forever be my baby boy, even though he’s a Grampy now ;-; ..Can I go back to saying all of them?!

Favorite Spouse: These are hard questions ;-; I’ve got a massive soft spot for awkward, sweet and handsome manchilds, so I’ll have to say it’s a tie between Archy and Stitch.

Mishaps during your legacy? Oh Christ, so many! First big one was I accidentally deleted Melvin forever! Had to recreate him for when he came back, and that was stressful! Numerous crashes, characters running away before something important could happen, Husbands not reacting when their wife went into labor, fires, near deaths, actual deaths, the list goes on and on!

Largest number of children? Moo and Archy’s lot where he highest, three girls and a boy. they had a busy household!

Any Surprises? It’s going to sound weird, but it was surprising how the Rudolphs influenced how I rote them. I’d have a plan and they’d go in the complete opposite direction and I always loved that about them. Never had that with any other family.

Legacy OTP: JUST ONE!? I don’t knoooow ;-; Going off of the fact I couldn’t be happy without making sure their spirits met after they passed, I’ll say Mochy, but I love all of them really.

Favorite family pet: Well, since there’s only been two so far, I’ll say Lady. She’s just so lovely and I wanna snuggle with her so bad ;u;

Totally didn’t spend hours reading some of the legacy whilst getting the links up and crying on the inside.. I hoped I wouldn’t miss them this much ;________;

It was my “happy” song yeeeeears ago and only just remembered it when I was watching Community the other day. It’s a great, little, happy song and it’s hard to be in a bad mood when you listen to it :)

So.. Let me explain..

Kinda went of the radar, again, but this time it was just a mix of not feeling it and more recently too many back-to-back shits that left me drained, but I’ve finally made it to my day off this week! Yay!!

I’m really, really hoping I’ll have a queue set up soon, even though I plan to chill out with the bear tomorrow, so fingers crossed we’ll be back with the Curious’ soon! 

Oh! Also just noticed that I was tagged in a few things, thanks guys ;u; , so I’ll have a bash at getting those done :)

Sorry they’re late! It’s been super hot here and I could barely function but it’s just started to rain yay!

Hopefully I’ll post a queue soon, just need to get my brain in gear to write one up.

I’m feeling all sorts of upset and worry about poor Wonder. I’m craving to just sit him down and somehow get him to open up to me, but I don’t want to bombard him either.

I made a point to tuck him in last so I could have a little word with him. Nothing to serious or scary, just a small vote of confidence. I said to him that I love him and his brother and sister no matter what, that whatever was worrying him will be okay and that I’m here for him if he needs someone to talk to when he feels he can.

Poor thing, he doesn't seem himself at all.. I hope he can get his thoughts together soon to talk to me. I don’t know how long I can see him like this, all lost and confused. I guess I can only wait patiently until he’s ready. Fingers crossed that won’t be too long..

The evening was quickly tuning into night, so Basil and I clapped and cheered for the twins as they finished and smiled at us, Petal proudly and Wonder a tad more bashfully.

I told them how proud I was of them, all of them, and listened to Petal and Basil’s cheerful chatter as we all headed to bed. 

I remember looking to Wonder, who was fiddling with his fingers again, and placing my hand on his head to stroke his hair in an attempt to soothe him. He jumped slightly a looked at me, his little face looking deep in thought. I mouthed to him if he was okay and he forced a smile and shyly nodded. I knew he wasn’t, but I just mouthed back “okay” kissed his head and tucked them all into their beds.

We sat for what felt like hours listening to the twins getting progressively more and more in sync with one another and the music. It was wonderful to watch and I could feel the spark of pride growing brighter and brighter still as I think of how all my kids have found a hobby to excel in.

They’re a brilliant bunch, if I do say so myself, and I just can’t thank the stars enough for them.

There, on what I like to call the hobby floor, was Wonder sitting at the piano, playing rather well, with Petal to his left attempting to keep up on guitar and Basil sitting on the floor behind them, patting the floor in time with the music and bobbing his head happily.

I knew the twins had taken interest in music as toddlers, Wonder especially, but I can’t wrap my head around how fast they’ve learnt just with their whits and a few dated, beginners music books.

I smiled proudly at the twins before hearing “Mum” being whispered by Basil. He was smiling just as proudly as I was and patting the floor next to him, offering me to watch the twin’s concert with him.

Finally finishing raking most of the leafs and popping them into the compost, I checked my phone for the time and saw that Basil would be home from school any minuet. So I popped the rake back into the shed and headed inside to warm up and wait for the family to all be under one roof again.

I couldn’t see the kids downstairs anywhere, but I remember hearing soft music coming from the floor above. So, naturally, I headed to the sauce of the noise and was pleasantly surprised at what was making it.

Wonder let out a nervous breath before beginning his turn. It wasn’t a long turn as poor Wonder stepped onto his marker and froze as he realized his mistake.

I couldn’t see his face, but I imagine he was pretty upset about it as his head and arms dropped sorrowfully before Petal put her arm on his shoulder and the two disappeared back into the house.

Bless him, Wonder isn’t adjusting to his new body at all. Hopefully Petal will help him learn the ways of being a bit more grown up, or cheer him up, at least.

As I moved on from the garden to rake up the fallen orange and yellow leafs, I noticed the twins playing hopscotch on the grid I’d painted on the deck. I was very glad to see it getting some use, ruddy thing took ages to get right!

Petal was avoiding the marker like a professional hopscotcher and Wonder was patiently waiting his turn, idly fiddling with his fingers as he watched his sisters feet hop, skip and jump daintily from number-to-number. Reaching the end and avoiding the marker, Petal picked it up and passed it onto her brother with a smile.

I’d not met twins before these two, but the twin bond you often hear of is really very present with little Wonder and Petal.

I left the twins to enjoy their birthday cake as I tended to the garden. 

It may just be them getting used to being a bit more grown up, but they’ve seemed to swap personalities. Wonder, who was cattier as a tot, now seems quiet and more reserved where as Petal, who was the shyer of the two, seems to be the bubbly, loud leader.

To be honest, it very well could just be me overthinking an observation, but I’ll have to keep an eye out to make sure Wonder is okay.
