I have begun taking classes at Learn Squared. Two classes to be exact. Narrative Concept Art as well as intro to 3D Concept Design, both with Jama Jurabaev. So far I have only really participated in Narrative Concept only because I only just secured getting the 3D programs 3D Coat and Keyshot just recently. Hopefully soon I will be posting the work I do in that class here as well.   Anyways, here above are my second week’s homework. Basic abstract comps. We were asked to make as many as we could, keep the look of them graphic, use only flat brushes or limited gradient brush, and keep the values simple.  The goal of the assignment was to practice keeping things visually interesting by trying to incorporate Big, Med, Small some how. Hopefully I have a few that are working!

So here are some of my film studies that I like to do a lot.  I don’t do comp studies everyday from film. Sometimes I do other exercises instead but I do like to do these when I can.  These are a great tool to really break down Film composition and try to understand what is the director and/or Cinematographer are thinking. As you do these more and more, you start to realize that every shot is planned to be the way it is. Everything is done with a purpose and that is what helps create that cinematic sense that we are so accustom to seeing in movies. Great exercise. I highly encourage everyone try it. Just put on a movie and pause the movie and different intervals looking specifically for the key shots.  and then draw from it.

An Introduction

Hi everyone and welcome to my space. On this blog you will find primarily the works of Jonathan Fisher (Me). They may be doodles, studies, development work, finished pieces, thoughts, etc.. Basically on this blog, you may find a whole range of things. How I use this blog may change as I go, but for now, this blog is going to be very personal and show a lot of the behind the stage stuff. For my more finished stuff/portfolio I have my personal website which you can find at  http://jonfishdesign.com/ .  One of the reasons I wanted to create this space is just because I feel I need a place to showcase my work but in a more relaxed environment. So I thought a tumblr would be a perfect solution to that. Also, I want to connect people. I am very interested in seeing how my work is received, seen, maybe even shared among others. So with that being said, I am very open and would love to encourage dialogue here. If you have comments, questions, critique, about any and everything you see here or else where, shout it out!  I would be more than happy to send you a response.   Looking forward to posting here!
