"Despite Everything, it's Still You."
Happy 10th Anniversary Undertale, for 10 and more to come.
Here the single pieces (edited differently too each)
.
I discovered this game about 8 years ago, and got into the fandom right as it truly began to explode, watched many projects evolve and others become even grander, all involving these characters from a game I absolutely fell in love with to the point I wanted to make something in its honor too.
But I didn't. I did some little fanart, doodles, but never truly got myself to make a full fanart because- I wasn't good enough. I was just a teen who had recently got into art, barely knew how to use pencils, and definetely without the experience to make what my mind would deem as "a masterpiece". For years I'd watch tons and tons of animations and art, just wishing to one day be able to make something as cool as that, but because "it was already done and better", "there are better and more popular artists anyway", and "it won't ever be enough", I just- never did.
Each 15th of September I'd promise myself to this time finally Do It, make The Fanart The Piece, and each year promptly dismiss it. Until today.
This took so much time to do, mistakes were made and ran on a deadline, but I did it. And while I still don't know if it's "good enough"- I'm so happy it now exists, and that finally I made something for this game I still carry in my heart that I can be proud of, and say I really did it.
So moral of the story? Idk I guess the usual "never give up your dreams they might come true", it's weird because I always felt like it was kind of bs but this time was when I really felt like- no, yeah. Sometimes the good thing actually happens and it feels great and amazing and no one can ever take that away from me.
This game was the second most impactful piece of media I ever experienced, and I'm happy to properly "thank it" and its creator(s) for what they made while looking forward for Deltarune.
Stay determined, and have a great day - Griff
