why is sansa stark hating so common. like she's a little girl. she's terrified, she's trapped, she's being handed from one pedophile to the next, she saw her dad's head get cut off, she's alone, all her siblings are dead, her mom is dead, she's 11 years old, she's supposed to be making rubber band loom bracelets and listening to one direction, she's just a kid. all the most evil characters in the book hate her for no reason other than she's ned's kid. she's also a very smart, polite, and kind girl. she's preppy in the first book, but her greatest sin is what? being a girl? being a little girl? being a bit snooty (which she quickly gets beaten out of her anyway)? yall are horrible
Unironically almost cried at this. I love Sansa so much holy fucking shit I just wanna wrap her in a blanket, feed her warm soup and read her those stories she loves :(((
People hating on Sansa is so annoying. They lack the basic empathy to understand what it’s like to navigate the world as a girl. You can’t win. Be like Arya—tough and ‘not like other girls’—and they’ll call you a pickme. Be like Sansa—feminine, polite, dreaming of love and safety—and you’re dismissed as dumb, annoying, and complicit. But both girls are literal CHILDREN.
No one looks past the surface. Those are just the masks they wear to survive. Arya’s anger. Sansa’s courtesy. They’re coping skills used as shields.
It drives me absolutely insane that people are so quick to forgive Arya’s mistakes because she’s more masc, but when Sansa does ‘dumb shit’ as a literal child, it’s all her fault. Like… she’s 11. She’s terrified. She’s only playing the hand she’s been dealt.
ASOIAF’s world is cruel to girls no matter how they act. Women are property and pawns for men’s ambitions. So stop fucking hating on Sansa for being a girl who wanted safety and love. She deserves that. She deserves kindness. Just like Arya deserves it too.
That’s why I will always ride for my Stark girls.
Also, I really fucking hated how they cut the depth out of the other female characters. Cersei and Shae were easy. You can hate them and empathize with them too. Cersei was a narcissistic cunt but she also wailed and cried over Joffrey’s body until she was forcibly removed. Shae was a lowborn girl that had no say when, say a Lord and Hand of the King wants to bed her. They were both used as pawns and objects to further Tywin’s ambitions. It should’ve showcased how little autonomy women have in their world. Even if you come with a name and title.
How a person views Sansa Stark is a perfect litmus test for whether I feel like talking to them about any aspect of ASOIAF at all.
