MOTION TEST
FINAL MOTION PIECE:
I then developed the motion piece by changing the ending and adding the markmaking wheel. I think this ties in all the elements together very well. I’m happy with how this turned out and I’m glad I used procreates animation feature, as this allowed it have a hand drawn effect especially when the logo morphs into a bus.
Overall, im happy with how this has turned out as this is my first proper piece of motion.
MOTION PIECE DEVELOPMENT:
I then developed the first bit of motion I did with the logo and decided to extend it. I was happy with the way in which this turned out considering this was my second time using procreates animation software.
After speaking with my tutor, we both agreed that the motion piece did not really contain any link to the mark making elements within the designs.
Overall, I'm happy with this outcome, but I will be developing this further by adding the mark making elements within the design.
MERCHANDISE:
BUSINESS CARDS:
I wanted to keep the business cards really simple and I wanted to reflect the nature of the festival. For the front business card I added the logo with the gradient background. I feel as though this works really nicely and would stand out from other business cards. On the other side of the card, I included the name and position and ways in which to contact them. I used the shape of the logo on the side to create some contrast and included some subtle markmaking, so that there was a greater sense of creativity.
Overall, im happy with this outcome as I feel it is visually striking. I was also thinking that the ‘f’ could be changed to the other letters so that not every business card would look completely the same.
ID CARDS:
When thinking about the layout of the id cards, I thought that it might be a cool idea if were to create them in a way that made them look like miniature posters for the festival. By this I mean that, having the id cards having a somewhat same layout and design as the poster would not only create a cohesive design, but might make the id cards have more character and look more visually appealing.
Initially, I was thinking about keeping it more simple and just having ‘staff’ and then the name, but after I was thinking about how the ‘miniature posters look’ may look like, I thought that this would look the best.
Overall, im really happy with how this turned out, as I feel like it has a lot of character and personality and that it looks way better than just having the name on. I also like the use of the brand colours as I feel this ties in nicely and I could see people wearing these.

PHOTOGRAPHY WITH LOGO:
I then thought it be interesting to see how the logo would look like on photography that I've taken myself. For these examples have decided to choose different imagery to showcase the scope. The idea of the logo interacting/reacting with the image for example having parts of the logo overlapped by a flower or a head of a statue creates depth and it doesn't just look like it has been placed there without any thought.
Really like how these turned out and I think they work very effectively.
POSTER DESIGN MOCKUP:
FINAL POSTER DESIGNS:
After creating first poster design, I knew that there was something missing therefore I decided to include the other elements I have included with other deliverables and concepts. For example the elements such as Mark making and the paper texture and the colour gradient at the bottom. I initially created the first poster (left) as a standalone poster which was to be used just to explain the nature of the festival. But I then decided that this was a great opportunity to create more that are linked together for example the F on the first poster follows onto the second poster and then the two lines that underline the acts follows onto the third poster which creates the linear version of the F standing for fringe. I really like how these have turned out, I think they're way better than the first initial stage and I think that they look really great together. The concept of linking these posters together through the shapes and linear lines was to reinforce the single mind proposition I had which was to celebrate and bring together people, areas and talents in Birmingham. The three posters becoming one reinforces the idea of uniting which is what the festival is about.
WAYFINDING MAP:
After looking at all of the things I've created so far such as the social media background assets and the mark making I felt that I needed to incorporate this within the way finding map. This is because for me it was crucial to create a cohesive design. Therefore I include some mark marking within the way finding map to create that sense of cohesion and I also added a texture in the solid grey.
Overall, I am happy with this outcome and I feel as though it links well with the other assets and deliverables much better now.
SIGNAGE:
Using a photograph I took whilst at the location of Bournville park, I concluded the signage within the image to showcase what it would look like.
I am really happy with the outcome of this as I feel that it works really effectively.
ICONOGRAPHY SYMBOLS:
I then created iconography symbols that can be used for both signage and way finding map. When creating these iconography symbols I wanted them to be more personal to the festival. Therefore I created them using the shapes found within the logo.
