There wasnāt much else he felt he could say. Even though he didnāt voice his opinions very often, he was in the same boat as some of the others. Uneasy and uncertain. But, this was his boss now and Marshall had to put his faith in him because he was in this for the long haul. He was also near the bottom of the Diamonds chain, so he felt he was out of place or stepping out of line if he said how he really felt about this whole cluster fuck.
āNo, that was about it.ā he took the cue and stood up from the chair, pulling on the front of his jacket to smooth it out. Of course he had heard some grumblings from the other members, but that was on them to voice their concerns. He wasnāt about to be labeled a narc for telling the boss what people were saying behind his back and some of the rumors swirling around.Ā
āI know Bobby pretty well. I can hit him up for a drink and poke around, if it will do any good.ā he offered. It had been an unlikely friendship at first, but the more the two talked the more they realized they had a lot in common. He figured it was the least he could do.Ā
Marshall only lingered for a few more moments before heading to the door. There was still a sense of doubt in regards to the Diamonds situation, but he felt like he was taking up too much of Alexās time. The man had answered the few important questions that he had and it would have to do for now. He was halfway out the door before he turned around to give Alex some reassurance that he could count on him. āIf anything turns up Iāll let you know right away.āĀ Ā
āSounds like a plan to me. Get a handle on whatās floating around out there.ā It seemed like solid ground to put his feet on, for once, something he appreciated. Marshall didnāt seem like the type that took any bullshit, and Alex was grateful for that. It was something he needed - someone to be straightforward, a quality that was shockingly lacking, all things considered.
The reassurance, too, was well appreciated, a smile of sorts flickering across Alexās features as he nodded Marshallās way.Ā āWeāll hold you to that, Ford.ā He waited until the man was gone before he sank down into his chair again, taking a deep breath in - and getting straight back to work.
