Finally got my hands on some literature that I can study up on. I am starting straight away with A Practical Heathen's Guide to Asatru by. Patricia M. Lafayllve. Let me know if there are any other books you recommend or may think that I can learn from. (:
After three weeks of reading my runes daily, I have decided to attempt reading my first Thor's Cross. I am having some major issues at my work places currently, and I needed some guidance and help deciding what is my smartest move of action. My rune reading today has helped me and now I am considering changing my occupation completely. Change may be what I need to become more successful in my career. Although I need to be careful in not taking any huge gambles. I am going to continue to read my runes throughout the week and see where they continue to guide me to. In the end my actions will shape my future and I need to honor those actions. Please share with me your rune reading experiences! I would love to hear all about them.
Last night, as the snow fell, I thought of Skadi. I opened the Heathen prayer book I have and it opened right up to a prayer to Skadi. I looked at the others for a moment and then thought, ‘I think she wants this one.’ It asks far safe passage and blessings in winter weather. I didn’t have time to gather an offering since I was already late to bed. I recited the prayer to her and promised hard cider the next night (tonight).
Well this morning the world was under a sheet of ice. I had to excavate my car. Not an easy commute but I was lucky enough to not fall or be part of the various pile-ups on CT highways. I will sure as hell be keeping my promise of an offering tonight. Hail Skadi!
Calling all Heathens!
Hello!
I’m new to Heathenry and I want more information about everything Heathen.Â
I would like to follow your blog and learn about your path while I discover mine. My ask box is also open.Â

The Gods are here. They’re watching.

A selection of viking inspired pieces. Sigil/rune/decorated pendants, mjölnir pendant, torc and sword, valknut metalwork and dragon head carving.
Maybe I found paganism because I saw something divine in the natural world around me.
Maybe I wanted to see something divine in me too - wanted to realize there was nothing separating me from the rest of the world - wanted to realize I was a part of nature too.
Maybe I wanted to realize there is nothing wrong with me.  I do not need to repent. I do not need to ‘fix’ myself.  I do not need to apologize for the way my heart beats.
Maybe I wanted a path that did not have any rules that could hurt my family, or keep others out.
Maybe I wanted a way to find something greater than myself, and connect with it on my own terms.
Maybe I just loved candles, and the rain, and the moss on the trees.
Maybe I found a comfort in gods that could make mistakes - in gods that could die.
Maybe I wanted a path that asked for me to love myself and found nature was my best guide.
Maybe I wanted to find the power to change myself, to create my own traditions, and find values of my own. Â Maybe I wanted to acknowledge my questions rarely have black-and-white answers.
Maybe I wanted a way to honor the deceased; a way to honor life. Â Maybe I wanted to find a way that death made sense to me - a way that matched the cycling rains and moon.
Maybe I stumbled into it - maybe it made more sense the longer I fumbled my way forward. Somehow I became pagan. Â And inching forward, I keep creating and changing, making this path as it makes sense to me - trying to learn to care for both myself, and others.
I love this so much.
