....I'm too tired for this...
Let both hate me. I think they both sound interesting.
I understand so much, I've been offline a lot, and the first thing I see as soon as I pop back online is discourse.
I'm an art student, I believe artistic freedom and portray are more important than personal taste (of course, they're less important than the safety of living beings). I've seen how ideas mixing and matching can shape something new, good or bad.
I also understand that concepts must be preserved and taken care of (like art movements having specific rules, yet blending or changing for the sake of art). If an otome game has a male mc, then it cannot be considered an otome game. However having a few BL elements for the "fanservice" is nothing new, sometimes is bait, sometimes is a real writing medium. But as long as the main focus is between the MC and the ML, then I believe it can still hold on the otome label. Plus if the work is properly tagged and flagged for people who may not enjoy it (or if they simply don't want to, because they cherish the relationship more), then it's great, they can list it away.
For the omegaverse game, I also agree with it and I'm quite intrigued by the concept, female alpha/beta/omega existed back when the genre was conceived, it's based on the outdated wolf hierarchy idea (as far as I know and remember!). There isn't a specific o moral reason on why it should be gatekept, it will not harm queer people or be a problem for the community (I've seen folks saying so and defending the game!)
I also think that people should be free to have fun with fictional characters, ship them, self ship, write or draw silly things, no one gets hurt, the characters sure won't, the main story won't change, everything will be ok.
Should anyone disagree, it's within their rights to do so, the right to criticize and to express opinions is priceless, we should not take it for granted.
