Long Overdue Update

Old Faithful to Lima

On departing Yellowstone, and Wyoming, the CDT meanders around the Idaho and Montana border. Trees overwhelm the landscape on both sides. The Wind Rivers stretch began with an simple act of kindness. For almost an hour, we stood at the edge of Lander, thumbs out, failing to get a ride. Then a former CDT hiker stopped and handed us a $20 bill. She wanted to drive us back to trail but was working, so she did the next best thing by donating gas money. We promptly finagled a ride from a local and paid for his gas.

Rawlins to Lander

Our hike through Wyoming’s Great Basin began with a late night escape from Rawlin’s intoxicating grasp on our stomach’s. After grocery shopping and hiking three miles out of town, we slept beneath the stars a mile from a highway.
