A new comic about G4 and G5!? Cover A B and a synopsis for issue 1 of IDW's G5 My Little Pony: The Storm of Zephyr Heights comic have been revealed on Bleeding Cool!

The comic will be released in September.

Synopsis: The story begins in #1 and continues in two epic, oversized issues! A must-read for Friendship Is Magic fans as the world of Generation Four collides with the ponies of Generation Five.

MLP G5 theory time

So i've become quite obsessed with Misty ever since the first episode she appeared in, so i've been constantly thinking about what her talent will be when she finally gets her cutie mark. Then i had a thought, what if the reason she doesn't have her cutie mark is because her special talent is magic? (like Twilight & Starlight) and the reason she hasnt discovered it yet is because Opaline stole her magic?

Despite being a unicorn Misty is never shown using her horn, when seemingly every other unicorn in the show can atleast preform simple spells like Levitation. In both the series & on the description of her toy Opaline is mentioned to have the power to steal magic/cutie marks from other ponies to make herself stronger, and since she doesn't seem to truly care about Misty's wellbeing I don't doubt that she'd steal from her to get closer to her goals despite them being on the same team. This also would explain why she doesn't have her mark when fillies way younger than her do, after all how can you discover a talent for magic if you have no magic?

since it seems that G5 is taking lots of inspiration from G1 i really hope they bring back some of the other pony subspecies like Flutter Ponies and Sea Ponies, and maybe even introduce brand new pony hybrids/species! While i don't hate most of the non-equine species of the G4/G5 universe, most of them just kinda lack the appeal that the ponies do design-wise (mainly due to the lack of cutie marks)

so quite a few people are very conflicted about Posey Bloom being an antagonist in the MLP: Make Your Mark netflix special. some feel like its just a way to "replace" Sprout as an antagonist or that its "unfaithful" to Posey's G1 counterpart, but hear me out... I actually think it might have something going for it.

From the clips we've seen so far it seems that Posey is not exactly like Sprout, as she seems to hate magic/changing their traditions but isn't really as opposed to the actual Unicorns & Pegasi being in Maretime Bay themselves. And according to the trailer/synopsis it may be that she hates magic because she feels insecure or left out due to Earth Ponies not having any (not right now atleast). I think it shows more depth to the ponies by showing not all of them have just become completely friendly at the drop of a hat, makes them a little bit more individualistic/realistic imo.

Not agreeing with or excusing Posey's behavior in any way btw, I just think she has good potential as an antagonist (and potentially a reformed one)

something i still dont understand about MLP G4 after all these years is why Ponies & Zebras are the only creatures to have cutie marks? like what is it about these 2 seperate species that causes them to have marks when other creatures don't?

interesting news about G5 was hinted at on twitter today, according to Imalou (the concept artist for G5) the Alicorn form of Sunny is indeed a temporary transformation and is not permanent as least from what she knows?

this rare pair has been in my head since i came up with it so here's some headcanons:

Zoom Zephyrwing x Dazzle Feather Headcanons (possible ship name: Dazzlewing?)

despite being a royal guard Zoom actually isn't big on fighting and will try to avoid fighting an opponent that looks really tough, but Dazzle will throw hands for her GF's sake anytime anywhere (basically the "excuse me she asked for no pickles" meme)

Dazzle frequently walks around the castle on her breaks to visit Zoom at work, much to the Zoom's embarrassment

Dazzle & Zoom have a habit of playfully poking fun at each other as a way of flirting, observers have said they practically act like an old married couple already

i'll probably come up with more later, but this is it for now (^ u ^)

spoiler warning for the MLP G5 movie

I really enjoyed this movie. I was kinda unsure about it before we say official clips, mainly i dreaded that it would become a generic kids movie but I was pleasantly surprised. most of all i love the expressive character animation and the detailed backgrounds, they make my artist brain happy. there are lots of unanswered questions with a few hints of new lore in this film, so i may make a theory post about it soon perhaps (of course i'll tag it as mlp g5 spoilers, to avoid spoiling it for people who haven't watched it yet)

My Hopes for the MLP G5 series

A lot of people have been worried that this new series will be lackluster or try to hard to keep with modern trends, like Pony Life. personally I hope that its similar to G1 & G4 where its a mixture of Slice of Life & Action-Adventure. I always enjoyed the later episodes of G4 where they would frequently explore new places and meet new characters, so i'm hoping they'll do something similar for G5. maybe they could even reconnect with the non-pony species, and introduce some brand new ones. something i also hope they will do, is add onto the lore of the world even more like G4 did.

so i found this particular screenshot from the MLP G5 movie trailer to be interesting:

there's the jewel on Queen Haven's crown, next to a cone-shaped gem that seems to belong to the Unicorns. so my theory is that the "Gem Heist" from the movie synopsis is referring to these things, and that Sunny & the gang will need to take these gems & combine all 3 to bring magic back
