Battle is not a test of strength. It is a test of will. One can exhaust all of their strength and still fight on. But if one's will is broken, then they are already beaten and their strength will not matter.

Buhrun wisdom
While many have sailed to the Serpent Isles over the centuries, with oral recounts suggesting as far back as ancient Shurima, the native peoples of the Isles have fiercely resisted any influence by the mainland. Roughly two centuries ago, there was a series of brutal conflicts between unrelated groups of mainlanders and the inhabitants of different islands. There were reasons behind each of them: Hopeful settlers in search of new land, ambitious merchants seeking to establish trade, a foolhardy few even dared to raid the islanders as pirates. The motives mattered little. The "Paylangi Conflicts" all ended in disaster for us mainlanders. Already master seafarers, the natives' ability to call upon massive sea creatures to smash their foes' ships gives them undisputed control of the seas. You can't fight that. Even the fledgling fleets of Demacia and Noxus, intent on claiming the Isles' spoils before their enemy did, were once sent home with their tails between their legs. But despite every setback, mainlanders kept coming to the Isles, for one reason or another. The conflicts continued until the Buhru, the closest thing the Isles have to a leader by virtue of sheer power and influence, forced negotiations with a fleet of ships that had banded together for safety and formed a coalition. While they had the means to crush the fleet, the Buhru came to see the struggle as a stagnant one, which directly opposes the central tenets of our faith. If they could not fully stem the flow of mainlanders, better to let it happen than pursue a fruitless task. The Buhru offered a single island to build upon and do whatever they pleased. It was a spit of rock in truth, forbidding and of little value, but uninhabited and close to the mainland. In return, the union would keep to themselves. The rest of the Isles would become forbidden to outsiders, until they proved themselves worthy. Whoever ignored the accord would be dealt with as the native people saw fit. Hardly in a place to bargain and doubtful they might receive another chance, the fleet captains agreed to the terms. So on that day, the Bilgewater Union was born.

Sketches of my Blood Moon OC, Tatsuya, whose nature is intertwined with @sanguine-butcherโโs Yokai lore. Tatsuyaโs a very old and very monstrous Yokai, as evidenced by his bestial body shape and the presence of eight masks. Are these masks a result of how advanced a Yokai he is, or are they trophies from other Yokai he has slain and absorbed the strength of? No one knows. No matter the truth, Tatsuya is a dangerous Yokai to trifle with.
I do not need a Warwick blog, I do not need a Warwick blog, I do not need a Warwick blog...
A concept sketch, followed by a portrait of a Yokai that Iโm working on, all thanks to @sanguine-butcher getting me on a Blood Moon hype. Again. Like when we first met.
Heโs supposed to be an ancient and very monstrous Yokai, as evidenced by his bestial appearance.ย
