“What is play money? The  man was hard to understand and didn’t talk like the other humans that she knew. She frowns. “What is Demon?” whatever it was it didn’t sound a good thing. “I am Ryn.”

“Uh… I… hm”, Liam gave up. Normally he could talk without thinking and though it got him into some trouble every now and then, he quite enjoyed not having to filter what was on his mind. But now? Ryn seemed so otherworldly not knowing about the most mundane things and yet she seemed to not know about the part of otherworldliness that he was so familiar with. Strange.

“Play money is meant to resemble money but isn’t. Like for playing with it. Dollars are real money it just feels like play money to me because I’m used to pay with British Pound.” He sighed. Probably that made it only worse.

“Speakin’ of payin’ ; what d’ye wanna eat? We can talk all about demons and currency over lunch, aye? Sounds good?”

This human made very little sense . He just opened his mouth and words were spoken and none made sense  to her.  “I only eat sea food.” She sniffs she had a good sense of smell of where her favourite food was been served.  She had eaten other food, but sea  food was her favourite.

“ Mine and Jacks baby doesn’t cry. If it cried it would be eaten. “ from Ryn

Lir shrugged at that. “Fairly sure it would be perfectly safe from that here,” she replied. Not so in the open water, probably, but babies on land cried. A lot. No one seemed to much notice.

Ryn nods.  “Jack said we have come up with a name for the baby we cant just call her Baby.”

Lir nodded with a shrug. “Whatever works,” she murmured, attaching the tiny device on Ryn’s neck carefully. “This should hold. And we should be able to track you.”

“ Jack said we could  call her Lir. But Lir isnt a girls name. Ryn had looked up names on her phone  “I think she be called Baby Ryn.”

she nods. “I go now.”

“ Mine and Jacks baby doesn’t cry. If it cried it would be eaten. “ from Ryn

Lir shrugged at that. “Fairly sure it would be perfectly safe from that here,” she replied. Not so in the open water, probably, but babies on land cried. A lot. No one seemed to much notice.

She frowns at the device. “It will get lost.” she couldn’t swim and hold a device in her hand. She needed both her hands to swim and to hold her baby.

Lir nodded. “May I?” she asked, nodding towards Rynn’s neck. Once attached, the device would stay put, she knew.

Ryn nods.  “Jack said we have come up with a name for the baby we cant just call her Baby.”

 “I come from the sea. .” she frowns at the human.   She was hungry. But she couldn’t catch any sign of a turkey, for her human friends.  “You give me money and I shall buy  food with money.”

From the sea.. from the sea!? Why was Liam so convinced she was not referring to herself as an islander? “Rrright”, he cocked a brow, “Can’t tell whether ye’re beggin’ or tryin’ - very poorly - to mug me.”

The mage scrunched up his nose and pondered for a moment. “Aye, alright. Ye’re hungry, we can get food. But I sure as hell am not gonna if ye any dust. I barely trust meself with this play money.”

No matter what money joke he made he was sure it’d be lost on her. But what if he gave her the truth on the offchance to pass it off as a joke if it’s not well received? Yeah. That could work: “My name’s Liam, by the way. Bartender and mage for hire. If there’s a demon - ye can bet I’ve summoned it at some time in me life. What’s yer name?”

“She needs to be in ocean water,”  Ryn tells her.  ”  I go.” She knows baby needs to be in water at least part of the time, like herself.

Lir merely nodded. She wasn’t an expert here, she thought coolly. “Alright. I’ll cover your escape and you can find me and, hopefully, Jack as well, with this,” she handed her a tiny, crystal-like device. “If I find him, I will use the same thing to track you down, OK?”

“I did not know my song could do that.” Ryn liked to sing, but not at the expense of harming someone she cared for.

“Baby needs to go into water very soon. It  can not wait.”

Lir frowned at this. “Well, in that case, you take the baby into the water, I find Jack and we reconnect elsewhere?”She suggested.

“Okay. Yes. “  Ryn replies.  She touches  her baby’s forehead. “I think  she not well. “

Lir gave the baby a glance. She was scanning her, of course, but her readings were all over the place with both Ryn and her baby.

“We should have someone…check her over. Unless you think she will be fine in the water?”
