A few snaps from my fist ever roll of Velvia. I've been hooked. Normally I prefer less saturation but maybe that's because I've shot more black and white. Looking forward to another roll...

Call your reps to protect healthcare
The Republicans keep trying to repeal Obamacare and pass various versions of Trumpcare or whatever you want to call it. Their current version of the bill, which has more support from the far right, does not protect people with pre-existing conditions.
What else is in the bill? Per New York Magazine:
“There have been no hearings, no studies, no Congressional Budget Office analysis, not even text of a bill circulated the day before the vote.“
They plan to vote on it tomorrow.
Here’s what to do, right now and tomorrow morning; do not delay:
Look up your members of congress here. Look up if your rep is voting “no” or undecided here.
Call their DC or local office. If you have time, do both, why not.
This is what you say:
I’m a constituent living in [zipcode] and I’m calling to say that the congress[man/woman] should vote NO on the revised healthcare bill and support the existing Affordable Care Act.
Remember, you can fax or text, too!
I’m reblogging because this is really fucking important to me, oh my god.
I need to shave my head again...
Buckle up kids, it’s going to be a bumpy dictatorship
Trump has been president for literally 4 days and he’s already settling us into our new authoritarian regime. A few updates in case anyone hadn’t been keeping up:
At least twice now he or a member of his staff have made completely false claims that have been proven wrong already and offered no evidence to support what they were saying, then refused to take questions about it
Kellyanne Conway called their lies “alternative facts”
Trump has decided that he will choose which members of the press are allowed at his press conferences
He pulled a full Kim Jong-un and made his inauguration day a holiday (of patriotic devotion, as though 4th of July doesn’t exist ????)
He’s passed 6 executive orders so far and has stated his plan to add at least 2 more in the coming days which, among other things, will strip away healthcare from people, restart construction on the Keystone Pipeline and the DAPL, restrict foreign aid to anywhere abortions might be done, put a stop on refugees from Muslim countries entering the United States, and start building the Wall™
And if that weren’t all scary enough, at least six journalists are facing felony charges, 10 years in prison, and $25,000 fines for reporting on the unrest surrounding his inauguration. Felony charges. For covering an event he didn’t like.
I’m sure there’s more but holy fuck this is getting terrifying.
I cannot believe I forgot the biggest one/the reason I made this post.
He has ordered gag orders for multiple government agencies like the EPA, the Department of Agriculture, the National Parks Service, and the Department of Health and Human Services.
This is a totally accidental Double(maybe triple) Exposure from the Stanley Kubrick Exhibit that recently graced the Jewish Contemporary Museum here in SF. It was an amazing road show. I felt humbled getting to look at the very lenses that shot the movies that so inspired my curiosity about art and what it could be. I can pick out obvious bits from A Clockwork Orange, Doctor Strangelove and the Shining and possibly Full Metal Jacket. Let me know what else you spot!
Made a thing today...

I’ve been doing my best to carry a camera more militantly lately. Here are a couple snaps from one of the best commute views I’ve ever had(says the girl from Lake Tahoe). I work in San Francisco’s Presidio and there are more than a few views to find in a very historical place. What once was an old military base is now a peaceful place for everyone to enjoy and if you haven’t felt that fog on yer face then I highly recommend getting out there!

The Legion of Honor had a beautiful exhibit by the Brooklyn Museum about a year back. I got a couple forgotten rolls of Fuji 400 developed and one happened to be from my visit to the show. Although I work in production and don’t exactly dress “girly”(more like a teenager out of an after school special), I still can’t help but fawn over a good ball gown. The heights to which costuming can take aesthetic never ceases to amaze me. If I had not gone into camera work, I’m pretty sure I would’ve ended up in the costume department. Oh the intricacy!
Test shooting an AE1, some inconsistency shot by shot. but pleasing over all...
Hey, shoutout to @myndmylk for always showing love!! Can’t wait to see your new San Fran adventure!
Daw, thanks for looking! Looking forward to more of your rad photos :)
I’ve been in SF for a little over five years and I’m amazed that this was my fist CNY Parade. Such a great event to feel closer to the culture of the city!
I’ve been doodling more lately. It’s amazing how you can stop doing the things you like when you feel overwhelmed by the rest of the world. I wouldn’t call myself an artist but certainly a person who always wants to improve. In this I was experimenting with reflection and opacity in layered images- but mostly I just wanted an excuse to draw mineral formations.
Still from an old project. Pre-color correction...
I’ve got some rad high school interns right now. I love seeing young women with such direction! They might even have more than I did at their age- which both blows away and encourages me.

Just remember. There is no such thing as a fake geek girl. There are only fake geek boys. Science fiction was invented by a woman.
Specifically a teenage girl. You know, someone who would be a part of the demographic that some of these boys are violently rejecting.
Isaac Asimov.
yo mary shelley wrote frankenstein in 1818 and isaac asimov was born in 1920 so you kinda get my point
If you want to push it back even further Margaret Cavendish, the duchess of Newcastle (1623-1673) wrote The Blazing World in 1666, about a young woman who discovers a Utopian world that can only be accessed via the North Pole - oft credited as one of the first scifi novels
Women have always been at the forefront of literature, the first novel (what we would consider a novel in modern terms) was written by a woman (Lady Muraskai’s the Tale of Genji in the early 1000s) take your snide “Isaac Asimov” reblogs and stick it
even in terms of male scifi authors, asimov was predated by Jules Verne, HG Wells, George Orwell, you could have even cited Poe or Jonathan Swift has a case but Asimov?
PbbBFFTTBBBTBTTBBTBTTT so desperate to discredit the idea of Mary Shelly as the mother of modern science fiction you didn’t even do a frickin google search For Shame
