hitsuji means sheep, but i didn't translate hitsuji express into sheep express because it's meant to be a japanese company name so i kept it as it is

there are some dialogues in english with japanese on-screen texts, i rewrote the exact english dialogues for lines that i could hear clearly but only two of them are translated directly from the jp on-screen text bc i couldn't tell what they were saying

what shows are you watching this season ? and your thoughts on them

my favourite this season so far is geeks !

I’m watching quite a lot of dramas this season lol.

- À Table! ~Nostalgic na Kyujitsu: just as pleasant as the first season. ❤️

- Ano Ko no Kodomo: nice slice-of-life vibe but nothing really stands out.

- Densetsu no Head Sho: I Iike dramas about delinquents but this one is just not it.

- Geeks: got off to a shaky start, but I'm starting to warm up to it. Intriguing characters and character dynamics.

- Go Home: an interesting approach to solving cases, although could be a bit too unrealistic. But still enjoyable.

- Kinshicho Paradise: wanted to like this because of the cast, but so far it’s subpar.

- Meshi wo Kurahite Hana to Tsugu: uncomplicated and only ten minutes long, an easy watch.

- Saionji-san wa Kaji wo Shinai: cute, cute, cute. Love it, love it, love it. They literally throw in all my fav tropes. Undoubtedly my fave this season so far. ❤️

- Otto no Katei wo Kowasu made: it’s so messy, I love it? Lol. Can’t wait for the next eps!

- Shinjuku Yasen Byoin: typical Kudokan drama, wacky and chaotic. Kind of similar to IWGP in some way.

- Umi no Hajimari: gotta say I like it more than Silent. 😬 Love the female characters and the beautiful cinematography. My only gripe though would be the ML is as boring as watching paint dry.

- Yaiteru Futari: came for the food porn, stayed for the adorable couple.

- Watashi wo Moratte: engaging mystery with great chemistry between the leads.

Hi, I love what you're doing in this blog. Do you have any recommendations with the same feel as Makanai? Like the studio Ghibli movies. The gratuitous motion, of watching a media just to be immersed in a moment.

Miyazaki described it as ma which means emptiness, which he puts in his movies intentionally so we may experience the emotions in the moment. Do you have any recommendations like that? Where I can watch a media just for being within it and not be a part of some complex detailed plot.

I think this is my first time writing an impression on my subs post here, but I had to write it because I truly was hooked by the first episode. Anyone might think it's just "another foodie drama", but that's not the only thing this drama offers. there's so much more than that. it has strangely a mixed vibe of anata ni kikasetai uta ga arunda, pension metsa (same director), kaidanshita no gogh, ukiwa —all of which i have subbed and are on my fave list— and of course with the usual magic of tvtokyo foodie dramas, in a form of friendship and finding true self. not to mention the great selection of theme song, ending song and soundtracks! i strongly feel it will be one of my faves of all time.

Around the beginning they talked about "Hikkoshi Age / House-move deep fry", the common customary is actually called "Hikkoshi Soba / House-move soba" where the newly moved in people hand out soba noodles to the people of the other three houses on both sides as a greeting for moving.

Ep9 notes: sorry guys, in ep9 i didn't romanize two dish names because it's too difficult and there's so very little to no information at all on the net, so i kept the words in katakana as it is, I did translate the dish description though. I don't want to spend too much time thinking about it including the wait in asking someone but if anyone happens to know what the actual romanization is, feel free to let me know in dm so i can fix it. If not then, enjoy the subs as it is.

Ep11-12 notes: there's another dish name in ep11 that i couldn't find its romanization at all so i kept the katakana as it is. in ep12, i romanized all the dish names half-guessing but not blatantly a blind guess, there was no exact finding as well but there were small clues from some articles i read. feel free to correct it if there's any mistake anyway.

the filename i put on the subs matches drama-otaku raw, so if you use hikariraiders one just rename it before playing and no need to retime it

a little note: the professor who gave jun (ichikawa mikako) the recipe hasn't made appearance, but from what i see on the cast and characters list, the only professor character written there is played by kanno misuzu. so the "she/her" i used is not just a blind assumption.
