[There is someone in front of Ingo who looks oddly familiar, as if they're someone he once knew. They don't appear to have noticed him yet.]
@myriad-forms
*Ingo pauses for a moment, brows furrowed.*
Ah, my apologies, but do I know you?
*It's easiest to start off with asking if he knows them, then he can move on to questions about specific traits. It's what he's done before when a person has seemed familiar, at least in Hisui*
[They turn to him and sign a response.]
Maybe. I don't think I know you though.
*Ingo blinks. The stranger moved their hands, and he understood? That... that was _incredible!_ It was also not the time to focus on that, however. Instead he nodded politely*
Ah, I see. May I ask how that would work? Do you take others' forms, either by choice or instinct? I have met those before with a similar ability. Ah, my sincerest apologies if that was a rude question to ask - I am not the most familiar with this topic.
It's a choice, it makes me less noticeable and makes interacting with humans easier when I need to do that, which is surprisingly often these days.
I see, I see. Do you choose specific appearances, or just randomise how you look?
*He doesn't question the fact this stranger isn't human*
I ask primarily because I have amnesia, and would sincerely appreciate any information you are able to share about your current appearance.
I don't know what you're trying to say, I just choose an appearance.
Ah, my apologies. I mean... Your current appearance reminds me of someone, and I was curious if you may know that person. It is completely fine if you do not
I have no idea what you're talking about.
I do not know how to explain what I mean in a way you will understand
Why would I know someone who looks like I do at any given time?
I... you know what? Perhaps I have entirely misunderstood how your abilities work. Either way, I doubt this line of conversation will make any sense to either of us should we choose to pursue it further.
Sure, if you say so.
I think this conversation has become monumentally confusing.
Speak for yourself.
I was under the impression that I was.
... This is. I do not know how to continue this conversation. If you do not wish to continue it, then may I suggest we continue on our own paths?
Sure, that's fine with me. I'll keep standing around like I was before you got here, and you can go do whatever it is you want to do.
Alright.
*Ingo just kind of. Turns and leaves. He has no idea what's going on and frankly he's just a little tired*
They just stand there, staring at him as unblinking as ever as he goes away but making no move to follow.

Maybe. I don't think I know you though.
A normal-looking human approaches and signs a greeting.
Hello, you look like you're new around here.
Explorer looks surprised at the use of sign language, but responds in kind by using it. 'Hello. I'm not new. I just don't usually wander this close to the surface.'
Isn't the surface usually safer than the deeper levels of this place?
'Well, that depends on which level you're on. The basement is... Not. Fun,' Explorer shivers, as though remembering something awful, 'but below that there's plenty of safe spots.'
I have been to the basement. It is certainly not pleasant. I have not noticed it getting any more pleasant deeper down though.
'You don't usually get below the basement by going deeper into it- it's. Not exactly the easiest to explain, but things in OSHA tend to not be very linear.'
I've noticed the lack of linearity, but haven't managed to reach below the basement yet. I shall have to try to do that.
'There's a lot down there. I could take you, if you want? It's not too long a treck, if you have the right tools.'
I'm capable enough, I should be able to manage the trek. Are you free to go now?
'I am, yes. Follow me.' Explorer begins to lead the way, humming under their breath.
They follow without comment or sound.
After a while of walking, Explorer silently offers their hand.
They take their hand. Something feels… wrong about their skin.
Explorer just assumes it's a condition. In a step, the two are transported through reality to what appears to be a meadow- though it appears to be a cave, the ceiling is too high up to properly make out.
This place looks very strange. What is it?
"It's a cave, technically. There's a lot of crystals on the ceiling, so it basically just eternally looks like day here," Explorer explains, stretching. "It's not sunlight, though, so creatures who can't be in sunlight can still be here without harm."
That seems very useful. Do a lot of people live here to make use of that?
Explorer shrugs. "I've only ever seen one or two people here, so I'm not sure. I'd assume so, though."
Maybe it would be worth trying to find more people then.
"Maybe. I prefer not to go near people in groups," Explorer admits.
That's something that we share.
"Makes sense," Explorer says, rolling their shoulders. "Do you want to go back, or stay here for a while?"
I see no reason not to stay a while. I have nowhere else to be and nothing else to do.
"Ah, alright. I'll have to leave soon, but... Is there anything you'd like to do in the meantime?"
I'm happy to do whatever, really.
