Sunday Football

The last 3 days have been crazy for football fans! From college to pro the all the games were very competitive. The Cincinnati Bengals was still without WR Ja’marr Chase and RB Joe Mixon didn't play due to injuries but that didn't stop them at all. Joe burrow and the offense were ready to charge. Samaje Perine Stepped up big time in Mixons absence having 17 carries for 58 yards and 1 rushing TD along with 4 receptions for 35 yards. Tee Higgins also stepped up with Chase still gone. He had 7 receptions for 114 yards and 1 TD. The Bengals defense did a very good job at holding off the Titans offense to grab the win for Cincinnati WHO DEY.

Jacoby Brissett and The Cleveland Browns came up big against Tom Brady and Tampa Bay in overtime. Brissett threw 23/37 for 210 yards having 1 TD and 1 INT. Nick Chubb had 26 carries for 116 yards and 1 TD. Anthony Shwartz also came away with a TD of his own. Browns defense came up big against the Bucs keeping the score 23-17 Browns.

Raiders and Seahawks had an overtime game as well this wing going to raiders winning 40-34. Derek Carr Threw for 295 yards getting 3 TDs. Josh Jacobs was another key player in that game having 33 carries for 229 yds. Jacobs scored a walk-off TD running 86 yards for the win. raiders receiving core also had a great game with a total of 295 yards and 3 TDs all together. Seahawks Geno Smith had a good game throwing for 328 yards and 2 TDs however it just wasn't their night. 

Eagles played the Packers at home. Aaron Rodgers threw for 140 yds and 2 TDs along with an interception. the receiving core finished with 3 TDs and AJ Dillon had a rushing touchdown of his own. Jordan Love came in 3rd Quarter after Rodgers left with a rib injury, Love threw for 113 yds and 1 TD. Jalen Hurts and the eagles however were just too much for the packers. Hurts ran for 157 yards setting an Eagles record. Total rushing yards for the team in the end was an impressive 363 yards. This has been a great weekend for football, the next few months the competition will be even more fierce so get ready.

Wow! What a weekend for college football. What game are you watching? I would have to say the biggest games this weekend was number #3 Michigan at 2 Ohio State. Every prediction I seen was Ohio state by a lot, but Michigan showed up and showed out. Ohio State was hoping for revenge from last year’s game in Michigan. Michigan dominated winning 45-23 with a solid 530 total yards.

Texas A&M beat #5 LSU. A&M was impressive on 3rd down completions 10-15 along going 1-1 on 4th downs. It looks like A&M wanted this win a lot more. With a #5 and #2 upset #6 USC who beat #15 Notre Dame is looking to land a spot in the CFP.

Unranked Kentucky played # 25 Louisville at home. Their Star qb Levis and kicker Ruffalo took their to a 26-13 win over the Cards. Will Kentucky finish in the top 25 this year? I hope so! The rankings haven’t been released yet, but I know we are all anxiously waiting.  Have a great Sunday.

What Does Sports Mean To You?

I have watched sports since I was very little. Normal kids watched cartoons, I wanted to watch Michael Jordan. Basketball, football, college, or pro I was obsessed. I suffer from bad depression, so I use sports as an escape. When I turn on any game it's almost as if I'm in the game, its where I want to be. my mom had me playing basketball since I could walk. I was around that sport for a very long time I played all the way into high school. my family being from Kentucky, basketball is a religion UK basketball is our religion. When I was born, I was put straight into a Kentucky Wildcat onesie. My great-grandmother being the biggest fan always had the games on, I was hooked she was the biggest Kentucky fan I know, she's the one that got me hooked. I remember watching Keith Bogans and Tayshaun Prince and just knowing I wanted to play at Kentucky just like them. the level of competitiveness from the march madness it was amazing. It was an addiction. Even to this day I can't wait for any Kentucky sports to come on tv. I fell in love with sports fast. I was in Indiana at my grandpa's side of the family's house. I was eating dinner when I heard the tv click on and heard Shaq and Kobes name on tv. I hurried and finished my dinner and ran into the living room. My family being from Indiana were big Pacer fans, and when you were in that house you better be too. Not me. My bedroom at home was decorated with Kentucky Wildcat decorations except for one thing. My scholastic book fair LA Lakers Kobe Bryant poster doing his famous reverse dunk. I loved the Lakers for two reasons. Shaq and Kobe. The looks from my family were stone cold. If looks could kill, I wouldn't be here now. I didn't care. It was game time. Playing basketball all the way through high school I wanted to be like Kobe. I wanted to play with his style, his competitiveness, and his mentality. I tried my best. Having a bad relationship with my mom, all the fighting and the depression I used any and all sports as an escape. They took me to a world just for a few hours where I was happy. I still suffer from bad depression and my mom is gone, but the world of sports is still my escape.

Rival Weekend

Everyone knows that rival weekend in college football is one of the most competitive weekends in college football aside from the bowl games, and the CFP. Michigan and Ohio state, Ole Miss and Mississippi, or even Louisville and Kentucky. The competition is on a very high level. The two biggest games start with Michigan at Ohio State. Michigan and Ohio State will be a slugfest. Whichever teams wins this game will mean a trip to Indianapolis for the Big Ten Championship. Whatever team wins this game also gets to keep their dreams of going to the CFP alive. Last year the Buckeyes took a devastating loss to the wolverines losing 42-27. That loss snapped and 8 game win streak the Buckeyes had going. USC also plays Notre Dame later on that night. USC is looking to win over Notre Dame to have a chance at making the College Football Playoffs. USC needs a win over the fighting Irish and a Pac 12 championship win to give them a possible spot in the big 4. Saturday will be a big day for college football fans. As a Kentucky fan I am certainly looking forward to it! have a great rest of your weekend!

Turkey bowl ‘22

   Thanksgiving football is a long and popular tradition. The Detroit Lions and the Dallas Cowboys have been the home teams for many years. The lions and cowboys have home field advantage because they were the first ones to do it. Both teams started playing to boost their popularity and so the Cowboys could boost their famous cheerleader's popularity. The Detroit Lions have played 82 times with a brief break during World -War 2. The record currently is 37-43-2 not counting Thanksgiving tomorrow. since the year 2000 the record is a struggling 6-15.

    The Dallas Cowboys first thanksgiving game was in 1960. Since then, they have gone 31-22-1. In the early 80s the Cowboys set a franchise record winning 6 straight games from 80-85. It is safe to say the Cowboys have been a better game than the Lions in recent years. 

     The New England Patriots and The Minnesota Vikings are the third game of the night. the Vikings are the favorites for this game. Kirk cousins and the Vikings are looking to bounce back after an unsettling loss to the Cowboys where Cousins threw for only 105 yards completing only 12/23 yards.
