really losing my patience for any 'feminist' statement to the tune of 'we need feminism because women fill a fundamentally different and necessary role than men and will be better at doing x y or z'. like actually i think we need feminism because it is an unbearable death of the spirit by inches to exist in a world where you are not seen as a fully realized human being because of a single cultural determination, and because a world that enshrines such things creates systems that are fundamentally sick to the core
In practice, this also becomes a way to not only normalize but force women to take responsibility for sexism. Women wind up forced to do extra work offloaded from men, they receive less support when they experience sexism, and they can even be punished for failing to withstand unequal treatment gracefully. "Women are just BETTER at interpersonal communication because they have heightened emotional awareness!" becomes, "Women have to take care of everyone! No one has to take care of women! Women have to be compassionate when men are insensitive or outright hostile! Women who are warm and empathetic are not displaying a valuable skill! Women who are not warm and empathetic at all times are defective! "

I’m sorry but like how are you still freaking out about politicians making milquetoast in memoriam posts about their republican colleagues in 2026
Reminder that serving in Congress is a job, and that you are probably going to get a bad performance review if you use your public-facing, branded socials to tweet LOL REST IN PISS about one of your dead colleagues.
Uncles and Nephews can perform especially powerful attacks together. Experiment with different uncles and nephews to discover their unique abilities.
this is what LMFAO did with party rock anthem
i saw a tumblr post a while ago that implied that the purpose of book reviews is to help the author get better at their craft by evaluating the book and pointing out its strengths and weaknesses, and i disagree with that so strongly. a book review is not for the author of the book you’re writing about. it’s for potential readers, and readers who want to see someone else’s thoughts on the book. and on a more personal level, it’s for you, the reviewer, to bring your own analysis and your unique perspective to the review. a book review is about the book you’re reviewing, obviously, but it’s also about you, and what that book meant to you, and why it affected you the way it did. a book review can and should discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the book, but not for the purpose of instructing the writer how to improve their craft. that’s not your job. the author of the book may read your review, but if you have the idea that you’re writing for them, that you’re their editor or pr manager, then you misunderstand the purpose of a book review, and your review will suffer for it.
I made a bad comic and now you have to look at it
So many takes on here that are basically just someone mad that someone else has made a rhetorically situated argument.
If you want the city to stop spraying pesticides that hurt native insect populations, sometimes it's easier to convince suburbanites to "oppose toxic chemicals in the parks where their children play" than to convince them of the importance of native beetles. It still helps the beetles, and you can probably get it to happen faster.
off topic maybe but the reason human trafficking conspiracy theories are so far removed from reality is actual human trafficking operates in a way that is more socially acceptable than most want to acknowledge. there is an overlap of "human trafficking victim" and "adult or child whose wellbeing is more likely to be disregarded by law enforcement and peers alike"
y'ever get haunted by the fear you will never write anything as beautiful as the US Steel Pipe Works Slag Dump Youtube Comment cuz hoo boy i sure do:

I think it is extremely important for everyone in the Greek mythology community to know that even though Greeks can have light skin and light hair, and that white supremacists like talking about Ancient Greece and using statues as their profile pictures, it doesn't mean white supremacists actually like Greek people.
White supremacists use Ancient Greece to insert themselves and their beliefs, completely erasing an accurate Ancient Greece and actual Greek people and culture from the narrative. There's a reason why when discussing the casting of Helen in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, they only show pictures of blonde, blue-eyed, Germanic, or Anglo-Saxon women, and never actresses who are actually Greek or of Greek descent. Just like how a black woman playing Helen is an issue to them, a Greek woman playing Helen is also an issue to them.
Since the very beginning of the concept of whiteness, beginning in the 19th century, white supremacists have excluded Greek people from whiteness, like they did for other ethnicities that you may now consider white, such as the Irish and Italians. Whiteness did not exist before the 19th century. When whiteness was conceptualized, it was purposefully created to not just view people native to the Americas, Africa, Asia, and Oceania as lesser than, but to also view other Europeans as lesser than.
Even if Greeks are viewed as white today, white supremacists still won't accept them because their culture does not fit into their vision of whiteness, and they don't accept them as descendants of the Ancient Greeks because they think it is impossible for them to be related to a past where they've inserted their perfect image of white society onto.
I feel like simply calling JK Rowling a transphobe isn't strong enough anymore. Like. This is not your grandpa calling you by your deadname at a restaurant kind of transphobic. This is her wanting to eradicate all trans people (with an extra special hatred towards trans women specifically). This is her trying just that by personally funding transphobic hate groups with millions to push around laws in the UK. It is not hyperbolic to call her a dangerous, genocidal maniac.
It's not about cancelling a problematic writer. It's about literally trying to save lives by denying her as much money and power as possible.
ngl this is the only way i can see a comic through to completion, just do it how i want rather than trying to make anybody happy
