Summer Is Over

I am the imperfect crack in the pavement, ignored until you're bored. Then you stand above me and pick my weaknesses apart like the grass blades they are.

Run me over with your mower, because I just mean so much to you that you need to cut me down. I must give you hayfever. my emotions run away, yellow like the ragweed you're allergic to, you say.

When you turn from me, as the earth does from its bright star, my flower withers and dies, and you ignore my cries. You give me more to mourn, and you prod and poke, needle and joke.

Summer is over.

Refuge-erator

We all live in a sweltering soup can.

There are bits of broth stuck to my eyes, and everything's blurry, besides.

The air causes a lake to form in each fat roll, and as waterfalls well up, I take myself to the refuge-erator, whip out a popsicle and hope for the night to be cooler.

2 Days Til Word Domination!

So excited. So worried I won't have much to say on the first day of the marathon. I do have some more determination that I had last year, though. 

I want this story to feel alive. The characters are alive, for me. I mean…not carbon-cutouts, not like they're lurking in my closet. 

Anyway… I've had so many months to think about them, and devised little scenarios for them that I'm not sure I'll remember, when I'm under the NaNoWriMo inevitable pressure. 

I do think I need to take more time to think before I scribble. Take more hours to work through the scenes, rather than scurrying to make a deadline at midnight so my progress bar can look promising. 

I need not glance at my wordcount at the end of every paragraph. 

Just relax. Caffeinate. Become one with Scrivener, and pen and paper when not able to access computer because someone else is using it. 

Just some things to remind myself.
