I just spent many € on 34 Victorian era [last half of the 19th c.] watercolours from a Maison in Paris that has manufactured paints and pastels for centuries... had my eye on some over a year ago from the Maison, then a bunch of things happened and knocked me off trajectory and someone else bought them. they put some new sets up for sale so I bought three of them, good assortment of colours. now to get some thirsty heavyweight cotton watercolour paper (that's a lot cheaper Lol)

this was the original set I wanted, alas I hope the one who got them before me enjoys them. that was the perfect palette, ah well. I should've just got them back when I found them. that was a set of 20 so at least I have half again as many colours in the three sets I just bought

I feel a bit nervous about spending money on not-essential things (although I could make a persuasive argument as to these paints being very essential... the soul also needs be nourished) when the things are so tetchy right now but these are deeply special to me and I was kind of robbed 2 years ago of my intended plans. I deserve a special present... the last 2 years have been so difficult. I'm happy and can't wait to hold them in my hands and feel the emboss with my fingers :)
