The language of this passage tickles me in a good way. Helen going “The wife of Zeus destroyed me” (self pity/sorrow, stark awareness, distancing Menelaus from the destruction) to Menelaus going “what evil did she make for us” (bewilderment, referring to them as a unit, the “evil” Hera made is shared between them)

In a simple way, Menelaus remind Helen she is not alone in her grief, in her suffering, as they are married and share the same sorrow, as this passage points out: Where there are two, one cannot be wretched and one not.

Me: Norse mythology has no real canon. It was shared verbally and so severely fucked with when it was finally written down. Really there is no right or wrong and all versions and interpretations are mostly valid. The myths we have now might be bs, we don't know, so fuck it!

Also me when there's a slight variation or something is off in an adaptation: no, that's not right. This feels like a crime to read, fix it now.

at the end of the day i don’t particularly care about nolan’s movie, but don’t try to push it to us as this great, groundbreaking film, because it does what every other hollywood adaptation has been doing for years now, only the production is bigger. also, concerning the lack of greek people involved, it might be difficult to understand if you live by the black and white american mindset, but it’s not so much about ethnicity as it is about hollywood and people with no culture, no history and heritage of their own senselessly capitalising on greeks and mediterraneans, disrespecting them and not treating them as real people.
